While visiting the Armstrong Redwoods Park, we needed some good dinner food.
We had driven past Saucy Mama Jook Joint and said “That’s it”!
When we arrived around 6PM we were seated fairly quickly (by Saucy Mama herself – she’s great – what a smile).
After looking over the menu we went for the specials appetizer (fried green heirloom tomato’s) and me – pork ribs and my wife the Yaba Daba Beef rib.
The food arrived quickly and, wow, big portions!!!
We were famished and dug in.
The pork ribs had a nice sweet but not overpowering sauce and were fall off the bone tender.
My wifes (huge) beef rib was thick, juicy and tender.
Both had just a light smokiness letting the meats flavor shine.
The sides? Well, the rice and beans were a hit (a little spicy but well made), the “greens” were tasty with lots of garlic and the mac and cheese was delicious – just the right amount of cheese and sauce.
Don’t get me started on the incredible cornbread waffle and tasty sweet crack butter – I could have made a meal out of those!!!
Overall a great dinner!!!

The owner of this place is a lovely, friendly woman with great energy who will give you the best service.. making you laugh, feeling right at home. All food is comfort style, with a slight Louisiana twist paired with local wines. Vegetarian main options are limited, can have lots of the sides but still enjoyed being here, a lot.

While some of the sides like the fried okra and black-eyed peas didn’t quite hit the mark for us, the meats more than made up for it. The ribs and wings were absolutely delicious — tender, flavorful, and clearly cooked with care. The music also added to the overall vibe, creating a fun and laid-back atmosphere that we really enjoyed.
All in all, Saucy Mama’s is a great spot for good BBQ, warm hospitality, and a lively setting — especially with a group!

Came here for my birthday in July and it was such a lovely experience. Stumbled upon this place after spending the day in Russian river and we were lucky they managed to fit us in! The food was delicious and they made such an effort for my birthday, the whole team was so friendly & made my day very special.

Where do I even begin? Saucy Mama’s is, without a doubt, a 10 out of 10. The food was absolutely incredible, and the service was perfect.
I opted for the BBQ Ribs with sides of fried okra and collard greens, while my husband enjoyed the fried chicken with beans and rice. Both dishes were phenomenal. The collard greens were tender and bursting with flavor, and the fried okra had that perfect crunch, elevated by delightful little bits of bacon. And let’s not forget the cornbread waffles and crack butter—they were nothing short of amazing.
Honestly, it’s hard to put into words just how incredible the food was. We made reservations, and I highly recommend you do the same, as this place fills up fast. It’s totally worth the stop!

Walked in while they were closing from a big new years eve busy night. Yvette(owner) didnt turn us away. She was amazing offered us what they had-BBQ beef ribs, BBQ chicken, red beans & rice, black eyed peas, collard greens, cornbread waffles…an d their special crack butter(amazing butter). All the food was beyond perfect and the customer service was overly accommodating and friendly. Eat here if your in the area. You wont regret it!!

Saucy Mama’s is the type of restaurant everyone needs to try. Every single dish they brought to the table was sensational. The chicken was so crispy yet so juicy and the seasoning was immaculate. The catfish was unbelievably delicious. The red beans and rice was proportioned perfectly. the cornbread waffles (which drew me to the restaurant originally) with crack butter was sensational with so much cinnamon it puts Texas Roadhouse better to shame. But even with all of that what blew me away the most was the most unassuming thing I ordered, the Mac and cheese. I will be ordering that every time I return to this little slice of heaven, and believe me I will be back! My only complaint is it’s so far away I cannot stop in to eat there everyday.

What a fantastic experience at Saucy Mama’s! With my weakness for fried chicken, and after seeing their vibrant setup and reading all the positive reviews, we knew we had to give it a try. And boy, are we glad we did! A word to the wise: reservations are highly recommended, though they were able to seat a few walk-ins during our visit. We were personally seated by the owner, who was just delightful and gave us a wonderful rundown of the day’s specials. For me, it was the classic fried chicken with beans and rice and the unique pineapple coleslaw. My wife opted for the BBQ ribs, collard greens, and okra. The food across the board was absolutely stellar. I particularly raved about the collard greens with pork – they were incredibly juicy and flavorful. If you find yourself nearby, Saucy Mama’s is an absolute gem you shouldn’t miss.

Wow!!! I’m a southern girl always looking for True southern cooking. I’m so happy that this is it!!!! Everything was great and it tasted like my grandmother’s food!!! I will definitely be here and I’m really picky!! The people are really nice too and the owner makes you feel welcome!!! Loved it!!!!

Amazing food! We will eat here again. Everything was amazing. We split a plate, and got other meats via a la carte. The catfish was some of the best I’ve had, and the ribs were cooked to perfection.
