Sauce on the Side may be quick, and take food and drink orders at the counter, but we are not the standard fast-casual restaurant. After ordering food and drinks, we invite our guests to enjoy a hospitable, full-service experience – food, refills and additional service is provided at the table without the guest having to get up from their seat. Our food is award-winning, craveable and comforting. We make our own dough, prepare our sauces and dressings in-house, chop fresh produce and source high quality meats and cheeses. All of this work, allows us to deliver food to be proud of.

I recently visited Sauce on the Side with my mom and sister, and we were so impressed! From the moment we walked in, the experience was wonderful. The person at the front counter (I didn’t catch her name, but she has red hair) was incredibly helpful and friendly, which set the tone right away.
I did the combo with a salad and a mini calzone, and wow… the portions were huge!!!! The salad I believe she said was like four cups! I had the Smokehouse salad, and it was delicious, fresh, and filling. For my calzone, I chose the Roasty Toasty, and it was amazing: perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. I took pictures of the salads too (I don’t get pictures of their calzones unfortunately). The other salads in the photos are an italian salad and caesar salad.
The restaurant itself was spotless, everything tasted fantastic, and we left super impressed. This is definitely a new favorite, and we will absolutely be back!

I ordered two calzones: one straight off the menu and one customized. Unfortunately, both were extremely disappointing, especially for the price.
The customized calzone was requested with Parmesan and no ricotta, yet it arrived filled with ricotta anyway and lacked the Parmesan that was specifically requested. When paying for a customization, it’s reasonable to expect the order to be followed correctly.
The second calzone, which was ordered exactly as listed on the menu, was even more underwhelming. It had barely any toppings at all—to put it into perspective, there were only seven individual slices of pepperoni in the entire calzone. For a menu item, this level of portioning feels misleading and cheap.
To make matters worse, after already being shorted on toppings, I was still charged extra for a single side of ranch. Paying additional fees on top of already skimpy portions only added to the frustration.
Between incorrect customization, extremely light portions, and nickel-and-diming for basic sides, this place does not offer good value or quality. Based on this experience, I would not recommend dining here and won’t be returning.

Sauce on the side is a great place to stop in and grab a calzone. Their food is great, it’s well cooked, and the partitions are awesome. It’s is semi-quick and easy to order. Always is clean and the staff are nice. I’ve gone here a few times before and would go again.

Ordered online, said was expected to be ready for pickup at 7:08pm so got there a little before and pushed I’ve arrived and the teller said it’d be a few minutes so watched the tracker and it never moved it stayed on waiting finally went up after 10 minutes and he went back and handed it to me. Why is there a program to help customers available when it doesn’t work properly?
Now to the food. Was amazing as always close competition with the St. Charles location, today’s tasted better than last time I had a calzone from the other location so great job.

Sauce on the side is beyond amazing. If you haven’t tried the place you’re missing out tremendously!! From the extremely friendly and helpful staff to the delicious fresh ingredients what more can you ask for OHHHH wait the Queso!! Yep that it the Queso is to die for!! The restaurant has many meat options including vegan pepperoni yes I said vegan pepperoni as well as vegan mozzarella and amazing SAUCES ON THE SIDE OF COURSE!! Stop in for yourself and you’ll be leaving an amazing review almost as good as mine maybe even better!! Thank you to the Owner Greg for such great conversation and humbling spirt & Colten for being extremely knowledgeable and the process of the fresh made ingredients which turn that into an awesome CALZONE!! This was my 1st time you’ve earned a long time customer!!

Staff was very friendly. Food came out great and was delicious. We tried Skinny V, Meet me in St. Louis, Duke, and the S’mores calzones. All were great and would definitely recommend. I plan on coming back here to try more calzone flavors!

Absolutely love Sauce on the Side, especially the Cottleville location! Went in last night for dinner with my Husband and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious! We were greeted by the young and upbeat employees behind the counter who gave my Husband a minute or two to figure out exactly what he wanted (because he had a lot us substitutions he wanted in his Calzone). The employee was extremely patient, kind and friendly with us. Repeated back our order with all the substitutions in place and even grabbed our number for rewards which was awesome because we forgot we had those rewards. The kitchen had our food out in about 15-20 minutes which was quick in my eyes and our food was perfectly cooked and piping hot. Unfortunately my order wasn’t totally correct and I noticed about three bites in. My Husband asked the employee behind the counter who asked the Manager and I sure wish we got his name because he was AMAZING! He told me he was going to personally remake my order and if I had 10 minutes it would be ready. I waited and he delivered, it was absolutely delicious! He even let me bring home the other part of my not totally correct order since I was only missing one ingredient from my Calzone. My Husband and I will be back again and again at this specific location due to the VERY clean restaurant, the amazingly kind and patient employees and managers there! Thank you Sauce on the Side for a great date night with my Husband!

Sauce on the side has the worst system for ordering online. The verification they use makes you jump through endless loops of verification that never verify you. I spent 40 minutes trying to get this to work. Sauce on the Side you need to ditch whatever company you are using for your online orders and get a new one because what you have now is terrible.

I have celiac disease and the staff was very knowledgeable! He said they have gluten free dough and a dedicated space in the kitchen for prep but that they have to use the same oven and the same screen that does the gluten pizza too and that they use flour in the same kitchen. So he said that he didn’t think it would be safe enough for someone with celiac. I appreciated the transparency so much!
I asked if he could prep it there and I could take it home to cook? He was like absolutely! He got it all ready and sent me home with instructions on how to bake it and gave me little spice and toppings container to do at home.
The kitchen was spotless and I felt very informed and safe about the whole experience. And on top of it all it was delicious! I will definitely come back and recommend it!!

I’ve been to most of the Sauce on the Side locations. The one thing that seems to vary greatly is the bacon quality. The Chesterfield location has incredible crispy, thick bacon. This location and the St. Charles location both have tiny shreds of soggy bacon – almost like shaved ham! Not recommended. Everything else was good, though. Online ordering and pickup was easy and convenient.
