I had a really good experience at this sushi place. The food was fresh and very tasty. I ordered a few classic dishes like sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and tempura, and everything was well made and full of flavour.
The kids loved it too, especially the simple rolls and chicken options. I especially liked the salmon poke bowl, it was fresh, generous in size, and very delicious.
Overall, a great spot for a casual meal. Good quality food and something for everyone.

I am unsure why, but this is no longer a Japanese cuisine. The food was so bad… it appears ran by an inexperienced group. 1) service so slow. Took 20 mins for drinks when only 2 tables. I requested a very simple Japanese sushi item for my child. A chicken basic sushi roll. It took them 2 enquiry and 2 goes. First it come out so loose with only rice on outside it fell apart a total mess of just chicken and rice (appears all food pre-made and no chef – 30min later) I had to ask again for what I ordered. I made it clear for a child a roll with chicken, and seaweed on outside as a roll. They too. Back and reorganised with a tiny tip of seaweed on the bad made sushi roll. It was square shaped, and from maybe a temu type sushi maker and a total disgusting result – We laughed to ourselves again. The food was horrid. We had sushimi and it was so pre-made it had an indent bit wrong and with white stuff settling on it? and discoloured fish flesh of the lemon indented into it. It’s not good. Its terrible and sushi at a shopping centre is 10x better for half the price I think it’s some other Asian nation group bought it and totally ruined a potential restaurant as it’s most certainly not Japanese staff, chef’s or food. Avoid

Stop by to try this highly rated Japanese store and I was not disappointed . It is a quaint little store ran by Japanese which serves high quality take out and delicious food.

The karaage that they sell is extremely close to the ones you can get in Japan and the sushi is of good quality with delicious rice

Will definitely come back again!

Amazing food. Very fresh. I had the bento box and it was huge! Cannot fault any part of the fish. The miso soup was lovely, the tempura was fresh and crispy and the sashimi was fresh. Finished off with the teriyaki chicken it was a vey filling meal.

Great food! Unfortunately we ordered food to dine in at a quiet time and the restaurant served everything in individual plastic containers, 5 separate containers for a light dinner between two adults. As people who care both about the the environment and our health we were very disappointed at their choice to prioritise convenience. Serving hot soups in plastic containers release microplstics into the food which are then digested. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back here as a result.

Visiting Townsville for work and saw this tucked in Japanese place near our office. Ordered the aburi salmon don and miso soup – it was delish. They also provide you with the white ginger and fresh wasabi Would come back again and try the other dishes

The first thing you notice at Satoya is the lovely smiling face of the staff member Chiaki who greets all customers warmly. The setting is very informal for casual dining or takeaway cuisine. It is a cool pleasant setting especially in the early evening. The food was delicious. I really enjoyed the Aburi Salmon Roll. Dishes were freshly prepared and very tasty.
