Known for their Hibachi, there is an above average sushi counter in the corner. Special Beltline roll was delicious and only $12.99. From 5 to 6 pm they have $19.99 combo Hibachi specials.
The Hibachi chefs vary quite a bit in personality, style and confidence. We had one who didn’t do anything entertaining or really interact and would prefer the opposite, especially having our kids there. Still recommend it for sure!

Absolutely fantastic hibachi experience! From start to finish, everything was top-notch. The chef put on an incredible show with impressive knife skills and the famous onion volcano fire, making the meal not just delicious but also highly entertaining. The food was cooked to perfection—tender steak, juicy chicken, and fresh shrimp, all seasoned just right.
The atmosphere was lively and fun, making it a great spot for a family dinner or a night out with friends. The service was friendly and attentive, ensuring our drinks were always refilled and that we had everything we needed.
If you’re looking for a hibachi restaurant that delivers both quality food and an exciting dining experience, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Feel free to tweak it to match your exact experience! Let me know if you’d like to add anything specific.

Made to go order. Food was suppose to be ready in 25 minutes it was ready in 10 and here’s why… I order teriyaki chicken and shrimp. The chick was super dry no teriyaki sauce at all. I called to let the manager Amber lnow she claim she seen the cook Brian put teriyaki sauce on there. I paid 34 dollars for dry food.

I am 41 years old and have been coming to this restaurant since I was in middle school — nearly 30 years. It has always held a special place for me and my family, which makes this review especially disappointing to write.
Tonight, my husband, son, and I came in for dinner and had a large tab. While waiting for our table, we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. The beer menu sitting on the bar clearly listed the beer as $3. When our table was ready, we asked the bartender (who was actually the restaurant owner) to simply transfer the drinks to our dinner tab, and we were told that was fine.
When our bill arrived after dinner, the beers were listed incorrectly as a different (more expensive) beer. We politely pointed this out. The waiter initially dismissed it but eventually corrected the type of beer. However, even after the correction, the price was still wrong — the beers were charged at approximately $6 each instead of the $3 listed on the menu provided at the bar.
When my husband calmly approached the owner to clarify the pricing discrepancy, the situation escalated unnecessarily. The owner was extremely rude and raised her voice to the point that he had to walk away from the conversation. I then approached her myself to explain that the incorrect pricing was not our fault — the menus were sitting on the bar when we arrived. We did not bring them there. She responded by claiming they were “old menus,” but that responsibility lies with the restaurant, not the customer.
I understand it was Valentine’s Day and likely a busy evening. That does not justify speaking to loyal customers in a disrespectful manner over a clear pricing issue.
After 30 years of patronage, this was incredibly disappointing. Not because of a $3 price difference — but because of how it was handled. Respect and accountability matter. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured we will not be returning.

This was an amazing place to get dinner. My husband and I were craving some sushi, and this was one of the few places open late. Upon arriving, we discovered that there was also teppanyaki there, which was an added bonus. We were sat very quickly upon arriving, followed by a prompt greeting by a server. We got an excellent spread of food (too much for us to eat in our visit; we shared the steak and chicken hibachi entree, and we ended up taking about half of it home), all of which was very flavorful and filling. We also got 2 sushi rolls, both of which were delicious and reasonably priced. Our chef was very friendly and conversational; I wish I got his name to shout him out, as he gave us excellent service! All in all, I would give them 10 stars if I could! We’ll definitely be back in the future.

Took my daughter here to celebrate her graduating. They had hibachi and I had sushi! Food was really good! I also tried their pinacolada and it was pretty decent as well!

Third visit to Sato. The servers and chefs are fantastic! There were several birthdays being celebrated last night and the atmosphere was fun and energetic. Not many spots like this left in Columbia. Looking forward to returning soon!

Our server and chef were both excellent! I really enjoyed the fact that the chef made sure my daughter was happy, and his presentation and delivery were both awesome! Thanks. I definitely will be back, and I recommend this restaurant to anyone in the south who wants to eat at a Japanese Steak House!

Ordered my food at 8:45 and said it would be done at 9:30. I arrived at 9:30 and I waited an hour and 15 for the food that was supposedly just made and drove 8 minutes home and the food was cold and tasted bad. The steak was burnt and not cooked correctly and the sides were ordered were cold as well.

Listen….I have never been held hostage in a restaurant until today. Sato Japanese Restaurant in Columbia SC you will never get my business ever. We’re not just talking about the mojito mixed with flat sprite, the salad over saturated with dressing, a portion of my order was missing as well and no refills and no circulating air. He paid the bill on his card(while some left cash) and I went to the restroom because I started to feel bad. I come out and some of the group has left. He’s waiting on me. I go to leave and they block me from leaving saying that someone didn’t pay. Not my issue? We paid!!! She then tells me that I still can’t leave. I politely tell her that her waitress needs to go to the table and get the money that was left on the table. She keeps on(patience lost) I told her to have her waitress take her a#% to the table and get the money. She then goes over but never goes to the end of the table where the tray of money is sitting. We go to leave and she’s still blocking us. My friend comes back in asking what’s going on, I explain. She goes to the table and picks up the money that is laying there. The lady is still talking (no apologies) I leave out. It was already my 1st and last time. I will never recommend.
