Randomly found this location while passing by and totally loved it! It’s much better than the Valley Ranch branch. We had stopped going to Saravana Bhavan after a bad experience at the Irving location, but this one really changed our mind.
The place was clean, the service was quick, and most importantly, the food was great. We loved everything we tried—except for the filter coffee, which was a bit disappointing.

Disappointed. I was excited to try a little bit of everything, but the server wasn’t helpful in explaining what the dishes were. I found myself eating without really knowing what I was having. They also served a drink without explaining what it was or how to drink it, which added to the confusion.

“The food is amazing, and every time we come back the taste and quality are always consistent — something you rarely find in restaurants. My son, who usually isn’t into vegetarian food, absolutely loves this place. The staff is wonderful, and the manager, Elijah, is truly outstanding. He always comes by to make sure we’re happy with everything, and when it gets busy, he doesn’t hesitate to step in and help as a server. That kind of care and dedication really shows.”

Saravana Bhavan in Richardson has become my go to place for comfort food. Any time I feel homesick, I can have their filter coffee, one lf the combo meals and piping hot sambar vada and my heart is at ease. You can never go wrong with their kesari or Puri bhaji.
Here are some recent hits that I tasted – Thayir Vadai, Millet Combo 2, Fried rice and Manchurian combo, Puri bhaji with cauliflower kurma. Simply da best!! Will definitely visit again.

Absolutely delicious! First time trying this restaurant. Sri gave us excellent recommendations. Do not skip the channa batura and onion rava masala dosa. Sublime umamibombs. We are omnivores and 100,000,000% satiated. Will return tomorrow. ❣️

The tea was very delicious. It Reminded me of tea stalls back in india . The aroma of cardamom and ginger instantly lifted my mood, and the balance of milk, spices, and tea leaves was perfect. It had that authentic homemade flavor I’ve always loved.

Paper roast, Onion rava dosai and chole battura are so yummy, but ghee pongal was not tasty, no trace of ghee, it must have been cooked in the morning, we were there around 4pm. Pongal was not served presentable… we were 3, only 2 water cups, napkins and cutleries provided. Madras coffee was ok.

We have been coming to this Saravana Bhavan since we moved nearby, and this restaurant is very much better than the Irving branch in both service and food. The service is really good and the food tastes amazing. The ambiance is quite ok. Sometimes they introduce new dishes to their menu too.

Saravana Bhavan is always a reliable place for South Indian vegetarian food. We decided to try their new Richardson outlet for a Friday lunch and opted for their healthier, millet-based dishes. We ordered the millet chapathi, millet lemon rice, millet curd rice, and millet masala dosa, along with the time-tested parotta.
Surprisingly, the millet chapathi was incredibly soft, tasty, and left us wanting more. The millet lemon rice was decent, but the curd rice was refrigerated, which made us wonder if it was prepared fresh. The millet masala dosa was good. The parotta was fluffy and came with two delicious accompaniments (Cauliflower Chops & Channa Masala).
The biggest disappointment was the filter coffee. It lacked the ‘zing’ required from a strong decoction and didn’t have the thick, frothy milk one expects from an authentic South Indian coffee.
Overall, I would rate this experience somewhere between 3.5 and 4. Since I can’t give a 3.75, I’m rating it a 4.
