Our trip to Charleston was a last minute idea. We wanted a short get-away from our town near Charlotte, NC.
This review is of the rooftop bar at Hotel Bennett. The views are what I was looking for. I also wanted some small plates (I’m not into alcohol, they have a nice bar, most folks were having drinks, but my husband ordered a lite beer). We decided on the black angus smash burger, the Caesar salad (be forewarned, this one actually comes with full size anchovies on top). Our server Nora was wonderful, she made our visit much more memorable, as foodies, we have much experience here, we did kindly convey to her that even a fraction of the anchovies would have been sufficient). Ooof! It over powered the salad. The tuna tartare was also pretty good, too. It’s served with crackers.
I inquired about a future stay because I was watching carefully and noting the staff at Hotel Bennett. They go above & beyond.
We plan on coming back to experience more of what this fabulous hotel offers.

We had such a great experience at Fiat Lux inside the Hotel Bennett! Brendan was incredibly friendly and attentive—he truly made our night. The entire staff was welcoming and helpful, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The highlight of the evening was the stunning view of the Charleston skyline at night—absolutely breathtaking and the perfect backdrop to unwind and enjoy the ambiance. A must-visit spot for great service and unforgettable views!

The reason it got 2 stars was because the food was not good and the drinks were watered down. Flavorless but the service was great! I got there right as i thought the kitchen was closed but luckily they were using the downstairs kitchen. Either way I wont be back for the food or drinks.

This place was amazing! The atmosphere was divine and drinks were like tasting the nectar of some forbidden fruit that the world never told us about! But my only set back was Brendan, or Brenden the manager who kinda made me feel like a second rate customer, or that I didn’t belong. Maybe I didn’t “look” like his particular brand of customer…but the place itself was amazing!

I brought my company to Fiat Lux expecting a professional and welcoming experience, but unfortunately, it was anything but that. The biggest issue was with the manager, Brendan.
From the moment we interacted, his attitude was dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of creating a comfortable atmosphere for guests, he made my entire company feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. It was clear he had no interest in providing quality service or even basic courtesy. For a manager, that’s unacceptable—and it set a negative tone for the whole visit.
A place like this could have potential, but poor leadership drags everything down. Until Brendan’s approach to customers changes, I can’t recommend Fiat Lux to anyone who values respect and professionalism.

Came here for lunch last-minute on Mother’s Day because we didn’t have any reservations anywhere. It was perfect! Not crowded at all and cozy seating. The weather was stunning, the cool breeze coming through the open patio doors, and chill vibe was just what we needed. The food was good, not great, but we enjoyed it anyway. We didn’t have drinks, but I would like to come back for that and trying the rest of the menu.

The place is chic and sexy, The chicken sandwich was an extremely small piece of chicken that didn’t even Cover 1/3 of the bun. For the price of $22 for a chicken sandwich and fries the sandwich needs to be a respectable size. It was an insult to serve this to your guest just because they are spending $500-$700 nightly to stay in your hotel.
