Towards the end of our dinner, a couple of us had secretly asked the wait staff if they could surprise my daughter with a birthday dessert such as ice cream or a piece of cheesecake and they said yes but it is not free, there is a charge, which we said is fine of course. Finally our waitress approached me and very kindly told me that their cooler was down so they were not able to bring the ice cream but she could bring cheesecake and I said that was fine. And almost as soon as I said that, and older woman, (I would assume the manager) approached both of us and said “no they cannot do that because it is too late, and that they are out of desserts”. Mind you it is only 7:30pm at this point, and they have a whole slew of people waiting at the entrance that have reservations. I find it hard to believe that they were out of deserts..I believe it’s more like they were trying to rush us out the door because they have other people waiting and overbooked themselves. Overall, the chef seemed unsure of his capabilities, almost nervous, the older woman whom I think was the manager was very rude and I think they overbook reservations. After spending well over $400, you would think they could have been a little more kind….
We had 6 gifts for our employees-5 were in Debrand Gift bags and one was a wrapped box. After we got to our table, I realized there wasn’t room under the table to store the gifts, so I went to the hostess desk and asked if I could put them over by the closest wall while we were eating. We were at a middle table so there was one table closer to the wall but I chose to believe the best about humanity (that they wouldn’t take them), and put them there anyway. I checked on them periodically, but as you know, once the habachi starts, it can be distracting.
Once we finished the meal I went over to get the gifts, and they were gone. I went right up to the hostess and asked if one of the staff had moved them, but they said no.
I explained that they were gone and she went to get the manager, who came right out and got the details and then said she would check the cameras. After she did that, she called the table who was sitting by the wall (and the gifts) and found out that a child from that table (who had been seen on the video), taking them out. She went above the call of duty and gave us a Debrands Gift Card to cover some of what we had lost.
After calling them, the family said they would bring back the gifts the following day and the management promised to give us a call.
We got a call two days later that said that the family had eaten some of the chocolate when they brought it back, so the restaurant made them pay in cash the approximate value of all the gifts and passed that onto us so we could repurchase our gifts.
I share all of this to say that the Supporo Management and Owner went above and beyond to help us and I am so so grateful. Let’s keep supporting local and people who have integrity and help to find solutions for their customers. Thank you again.
