Get ready to be uplifted by another fantastic dining experience! Sapodilla’s Caribbean Restaurant is a true gem. The ambiance throughout the entire restaurant is absolutely stunning, setting the tone for a phenomenal meal. The service is exceptional, exceeding all expectations, and the food is truly outstanding! We savored every bite of the Curry Goat Roti, Oxtail with Rice & Peas and Cabbage, Chef Tiff’s Mac & Cheese, Jerk Salmon & Shrimp with Rice & Peas and Cabbage, Shirley Temple, Plantains, Guyanese-Style Chowmein with stir-fried noodles and fresh vegetables. Rum cake for dessert. This restaurant is a must-visit experience – check it out and you’ll be inspired! You won’t be disappointed.
Great food, great music and great vibes.

Dinner At Sapodilla’s Did Not Disappoint At All! Wish I Came To This Spot Earlier But Definitely My New Favorite Caribbean Restaurant.

Parking Isn’t Easy to Find At All But Not Surprised Since It’s Off Marion Berry Road SE.

We Were Greeted & Seated Right Away Which is a Plus! Customer Service Was ON POINT & Welcoming With Great Advice On Food Selections Even Though Everything Sounded Good lol. The Staff Were Friendly & Gave a Team of Family Members.

DEALER’S CHOICE MOCKTAIL $10
Refreshing, Well-Balanced, & The Perfect Start To The Meal. Not Overly Sweet, Just Right. I Wish This Was Sold In a Pitcher Size lol.

COCO BREAD (Appetizer) $3
Warm, Soft, & Slightly Sweet With Creamy Butter… Finally Coco Bread Made Right!! Fresh Out The Kitchen & Perfect On Its Own Or Paired With Everything. This is a Must Order!!

CODFISH FRITTERS (Appetizer) $18
Crispy On The Outside, Flaky On The Inside. Seasoned Well And Definitely A Must-Order.

JERK SALMON & SHRIMP $32
Served With Rice & Peas And Stewed Cabbage
The Jerk Had A Nice Kick Without Overpowering The Seafood. Salmon Was Super Juicy, Shrimp Cooked Perfectly, & The Sides Were Flavorful And Comforting. Rice & Peas Were Cooked Exactly How I Love It, Super Soft & Tasty & Cabbage Still Had A Crisp With Lots of Flavor…. Mmmmmm Yum!!!

PRICING
Not Too Expensive, But Definitely Not Cheap Either. Just A Heads-Up: Automatic Gratuity & Additional Service Fees Are Added To The Bill, So Keep That In Mind When Ordering.

Overall Experience Was Great Vibes, Solid Portions, & Authentic Caribbean Flavors. Definitely Worth The Visit If You’re In SE DC. I Am Absolutely Coming Back To Try Other Food & Possibly Dessert.

Sapodilla hosted a convening of the Black Leadership Institute on Thursday, 12/11. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and treated like family at the Sunday dinner table. Food was amazing, and the pumpkin soup OMG outstanding, as was everything else. Love the decor, accenting the vibe of the cuisine. Thank you for a wonderful evening❣️ Although I’m not from DC, will visit again when I’m in the area. Definitely see a few items on the menu I have to try!

As a foodie, this place is officially on my must go list! It was a delight to be at a Caribbean restaurant and experience service from a diverse group of Carribbean professionals and flavors; often times people think Carribbean is synonyms for Jamaican. The food was so good, I went two days back-to-back.

Great place to eat! Comfortable, cozy atmosphere. Service was excellent. We started with delicious jerk Oysters and coco bread. My dad ordered catfish and grits. Fish had a light crunchy batter, went well with the creamy cheesy grits. Me and my mom split the oxtail stew and the meat fell off the bone with a sweet and tangy sauce. We shared a crisp, fresh, kale salad. For dessert we split the coconut cake with vanilla ice cream. Will be going back anxious to try other stuff on menu.

Sapodilla’s is a Guyanese (caribbean) restaurant that has recently opened its DC location. It popped up in my IG feed, so the Mr. and I checked it out on Friday night. We are so happy that we did. Everything arrive promptly, was served by a sweet and attentive waitress, Joanie, and all in a lively atmosphere. With hip hop playing in the background and patrons openly enjoying themselves, this spot will definitely be in our rotation as the food did not disappoint. We got the jerk shrimp and salmon dish, hot honey shrimp, spinach, channa (chickpeas) and rum cake. We shared these items as we we were only slightly hungry. Everything was well-seasoned and savory. The rum cake was just ok (didn’t taste homemade), but everything else was excellent. We also had some.tasty drinks. I had a carribean version of a whiskey sour, which was delicious and he he had their version of a rum punch, which was also very good…they were perfect drinks. We will he back!

I had the pleasure of trying the lamb sliders followed by the roasted Brussels sprouts, and both dishes exceeded expectations. The lamb sliders were so flavorful and tender, they disappeared before I could even snap a photo—truly a testament to how delicious they were.

The Brussels sprouts were perfectly roasted, with a beautiful balance of crisp edges and tender centers. I requested bacon as an add-on, which elevated the dish with a smoky richness, while the roasted tomatoes added a subtle sweetness that complemented everything beautifully.

A thoughtful, well-executed menu and a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be returning.

He visited this restaurant for brunch. We ordered Shrimp & Crab Grits and Rasta Pasta.

The grits were good but the shells in the lump crab hindered the satisfaction of gobbling that big bowl down lol.

Their Rasta Pasta was on point, just perfect. It was so creamy, noodles cooked to protection, and so was the chicken & shrimps. It has a spicy kick to it. Still remember the burn and smacking but I couldn’t stop eating it lol.

They do charge a gratuity for 2 people. Which was unexpected. Only thing is towards the end of our dining experience our waiter disappeared. We had to ask someone to grab him so that we could pay our bill. We thought he’d clocked out and went home. He told us that he was helping other guest downstairs. The music was a bit too loud upstairs as well.

Overall, we had a good experience. I wish I’d ordered another plate of that Rasta Pasta to bring home. Keep up the good work Sapodilla’s.
