Let’s be honest here, no one expects this place to be good. No one who has an IQ above… 50. Can you imagine a world where anyone feels the need to dispute this place as being anything more than what it is – street pizza that costs $4.00 for a slice of cheese, like the old days. I was walking by because I try to check out every single last Pizza Establishment in Los Angeles as I have comprehensively covered San Francisco.
Now. This place is a 4.1 One Bite Review scale in my book. And it tastes almost identically to Escape From New York Pizza in San Francisco for those who know what that means. I tried this place because 1.) It was open and Rock N Pies was not, 2.) La Puglia was further down in my walk and I was already hungry, 3.) the guy working the register looks like one of the members of Backstreet Boys and was good at conducting himself as 4.) the Asian American Boss was tearing his beautiful boy band caliber looking self a new one for no good reason because 5.) Pizza is made better when abuse is involved be it towards the customer or the employees by other employees or the boss.
However, even with the added flavor and 1.2 points added for abuse this place still is below average. But hey, it’s better than Abbott’s Pizza for example, which would costs nearly $7 for something beneath even this. This isn’t the worst Pizza but it sure isn’t even good. And no one should have to be yelled at by their employer for this level of ‘pizza’. Greener pastures await the young man who works here and resembles Brian Litrell from Backstreet Boys, when he was younger and close to his peak. Not the way he is now at all. Anyway. The boss, she wasn’t even as good as Margaret Cho. Imagine that, a Teamu Margaret Cho minus 70% of the charisma yelling at Brian Litrell reincarnated. Just sad.

Found this place last minute.. the pictures made it seem like it would be good. The food came out in decent time at least. We had asked for extra sauce on the pizza and there wasn’t and we also asked for meats and got just sausage. The pasta sauce had an odd smell but I will say at least it was cooked al dente. I think Dominos would have done a better job. I left sad rather than satisfied.

It’s great for a quick bite. They have competitive pricing. So here’s my review of a small Margherita and Cheese Pizza I ordered for take-out:
The marinara was lacking in quantity – I should have ordered a little extra on the pizza. I did get a side of marinara was great for dipping the crust. 2/5
The crust was a little on the dry side or too chewy in certain areas. 2/5
The toppings were good and they applied a good basil ratio. 4/5
Overall, this is a New York slice on your way to the beach, and the 10″ small pizzas are the perfect size for a multi-pizza experience. Order several and try different topping, etc.

I frequented this establishment almost weekly while growing up, and it set a standard I have yet to encounter since relocating from California. The quality, consistency, and overall experience remain unmatched, to the extent that I would seriously consider returning solely for proximity to this location.

I went on my lunch break after calling my order in, and when I arrived, my pizza wasn’t ready, which I totally understood since I could see there were multiple orders before mine. Seeing that made me realize that this place might actually have good food since it was my first time trying it. The guy at the front counter gave me a free soda for the wait and was apologetic about my order not being ready. How many times haven’t we all encountered that at other restaurants, and they don’t seem to care for their customers. I thought that was a very nice gesture of the guy. It goes to show that this place truly cares for their customers and trust me when I say their pizza is delicious!! I totally recommend this place, and the guy at the front needs a raise

Stopped in for a late night bite and was recommended the Lasagna. Let me start off by saying WOW not only is it homemade like Mom’s but the noodles are cooked to perfection and the sauce and cheese are bursting with flavor! Can’t wait to come back and try the pizza next time. Overall rating 10/10!

Hungry, 9:00 p.m., ordered a meatball sub, salad and a Coke. It was really good. Hot, cheesy, pretty big too. You get a side salad or fries included. I had the salad, it was a nice treat with the salad. Home made meatballs, nice light marinara, and lots of cheese. They make their own pizza dough that looked pretty good too. Nice variety of dishes on the menu. I’ll go back next time I’m in Santa Monica to try a slice of pizza. It is a local family owned business that needs local support.

I wish we could give more than 5 stars! We’re visiting from Gold Coast, Australia and googled pizza places near our accommodation. The reviews lead us here and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing but what made everything even better was the service. So kind, friendly and accommodating. If we ever make it back to Santa Monica we will definitely be coming back here. Thanks so much, you’ve marked a core memory for our holiday 🙂

Loved the place… we’re talking about a “non-corporate” pizza place, hence the dough and the toppings have a different texture and flavor (important to support all local small businesses). Store is small and though for pickup only or perhaps a quick order. Price was reasonable and pie sizes were generous. Waiting time was not bad at all. I’ll visit again next time I’m in the area.
