Nice place in north KC’s little Saigon plaza.

Tried a grilled pork and special combination. The bread is on point, purely flaky and crispy but still soft. Seriously some of the best bread I’ve seen in the Banh mi game.

But the fillings were sparse, I did not taste the pate or meats well and on the veggie side I did not taste too many sour veggies or jalapeno.

So overall they win in some areas but don’t do so well in others. They definitely have the ability to do better but it’s going to take effort I don’t think they care about spending. Worth visiting but know ahead of time what to expect, good but not great.

He’s super friendly and the food is great! Banh mi are so flavorful with fresh veggie toppings. Also, the peanut sauce with the spring rolls is good enough to bathe in. I’d share pics of the banh mi we ordered, but we demolished them too fast.

STILL AMAZING. First I had pho and Vietnamese coffee. It was still good, and still worth a stop in. Prices are decent and the staff are warm and welcoming.

We found this place by accident. We were searching for a Jimmy John’s but they wouldn’t deliver. They we found this place. This is officially my new favorite sandwich spot. We had these delivered and they were just as fresh as if we ate at the restaurant. Bread and vegetables were fresh. You have to try this place.

Fantastic!! We ate the spring rolls too fast to get a picture but they were good portions with quality fillings including a delicious grilled pork. Served with beautifully plated warm peanut sauce. Delicious! The Bahn Mi sandwiches were perfect…fresh baguette crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle with fresh ingredients and a steal at only $5. The Bun (vermicelli) was fantastic… I’m in love with this place. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. Prices were so reasonable and the service was fast and friendly.

Staff is friendly. Service is good. Menu wasn’t complicated. The only problem I had was that if the restroom was in use, you can smell whatever was coming out of that restroom and we all know that is not a pleasant scent. It made me not have an appetite.

They sold me rotten dessert!!!! My husband and I drove an hour to get take out at Sans for lunch and had a horrible experience. We had this place before and it was pretty good, which is why we decided to go again.

When I was waiting for my pickup order, I asked them about their desserts in the front fridge. After I chose one, one of the ladies got the attention of another lady that works there, and pointed at something in the cup. They started speaking Vietnamese to one another. It seemed like something was a little off, but they didn’t mention it to me, and they still decided to sell it.

When I got home I put it in the fridge and later on my husband and I decided to share it. He took the first bite and immediately threw up everywhere. After smelling the contents in the cup I realized it was spoiled/rotten. I called Sans and the lady I spoke with didn’t seem to care and basically said I should drive there for a “replacement”. I will no longer trust their food and won’t be coming back again. I’ve included some photos to show the dessert. You can tell it was probably sitting there awhile. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Terrible customer service. Not very attentive. Food took longer than expected due to the fact they chose to service a large table that came in after us. Bahn mi was tasty, but lacks filling. Pho soup lacked the depth of flavor compared to other Pho restaurants.

As the Pagoda Plaza on North Oak keeps expanding, I like to pop by to see what’s new. This time I grabbed a bahn mi combination and some bun bo hue from San’s Sandwiches.

I came in about 1:30 and placed my take out order. There was only one table with a couple and another customer getting take out. One of the reasons for the low stars is the language barrier. I’m sure I wasn’t pronouncing things correctly but there was a huge barrier in just placing my order. The English skills of the two ladies was really nonexistent. After pointing and some repeating we got there but it was a bit of a hassle.

It took about 20+ minutes to get my order which seemed like a long time for not being busy. While one lady made my sandwich I believe she microwaved my baguette to warm it up but it just made it dry, stale and unpleasant to eat. The fillings were plentiful and tasty but overall not good because of the bread.

The bun bo hue was packed well and I like the texture of the noodles they used. The broth built up the heat as you ate it but I didn’t think it was that flavorful other than the spice and the fresh herbs I added. There was also a kind of funkiness from fish sauce or something that I didn’t really like. I’m no expert at bun bo hue, I’ve probably only had it once before so I don’t know if that’s what it’s supposed to taste like but I don’t think I’d get it again.

With incredibly better noodle soup a few doors down I think you can skip this place unless you’re really craving a bahn mi. You can get 2 for $8 if you really want.
