The pani poori was very good, fresh and flavorful. However, it took around 15 minutes to arrive, which feels long for a quick starter. That said, the delay likely means it was assembled fresh rather than pre-prepared.

The masala dosa was excellent, perfectly crisp and well-balanced. But waiting 25 to 30 minutes for one dosa was frustrating. Still, dosa requires proper fermentation and careful cooking, so the time may reflect attention to quality.

The chutney was disappointing and lacked freshness. It may have been made earlier in the day and not refreshed before serving.

The spoon looked worn and unpleasant, and the glasses made me hesitate to drink. They appeared overused rather than dirty, but in dining, presentation is just as important as hygiene.

The service was unclear, as the staff member spoke softly and was hard to understand. However, he was honest about drink delays, which shows transparency instead of overpromising.

Overall, the food quality is strong, but service speed and presentation need improvement.

Sanklap (Santosh) in Oshawa is a standout destination for those craving authentic South Indian cuisine. The restaurant is widely celebrated for its crispy, oversized Dosas and soft, fluffy Idli, served with incredibly flavorful sambar and fresh chutneys. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed family meal or a quick lunch.
The menu offers impressive variety, from classic Masala Dosas to spicy Uttapams and hearty thalis. friendly service, it remains a top-tier choice for high-quality, traditional vegetarian dining in the Durham region

Portions is small compared to most Indian restaurants , food taste and quality is pretty good

We dined as a group of 16, including 9 kids, and ordered several dishes to share. Overall, the food was average. We tried items like Schezwan chili paneer, paneer tikka masala, an Indo-Chinese sizzling plate, bullet naan, and Schezwan noodles.

The barbequed broccoli and cauliflower sizzling plate was underwhelming and is best avoided. The dosas were overly salty, and despite ordering three varieties, there was little difference between them. The chutneys were cold and seemed straight from the fridge.

Service was inconsistent. We had to repeatedly ask for water refills, and a masala (ginger) tea ordered alongside mocktails only arrived at the end of the meal, with staff saying it is usually served last.

Overall, an average experience. The restaurant was clean, but there is room for improvement in both food and service.

Absolutely outstanding experience! The food was authentic, flavorful, and perfectly spiced—each dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. From the rich curries to the soft, warm naan, everything reflected true Indian culinary excellence.

The service was equally impressive: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel right at home.

This restaurant truly stands out for its quality, consistency, and hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone craving delicious, authentic Indian food. We will definitely be coming back!

Sankalp never disappoints! Ordered today and loved every bite. The cheese butter masala naan (garlic and butter) was perfectly crispy, and the crispy corn was on another level. I’ve tried many restaurants, but I’ve never had crispy corn this perfect. Absolutely loved it!

Poor Hygiene!

Very disappointing experience at Sankalp. I ordered a masala dosa, and unfortunately found a hair strand in the masala served on the side. This raises serious concerns about hygiene and food quality standards. The overall quality of the food is bad. I would not recommend this place unless they significantly improve their cleanliness and quality control.

If you’re looking for South Indian flavors with a creative twist, the dishes prepared by Chef Kosha are a must-try. I recently sampled the Paneer Dosa and Bhajji Dosa, and both showcased the chef’s talent for balancing authenticity with innovation.
Paneer Dosa
The paneer dosa was a standout. The dosa itself was crisp, golden, and evenly cooked, while the filling featured soft, well-seasoned paneer with a gentle blend of spices. The flavors were rich yet comforting, without overpowering the classic dosa taste. Paired with fresh coconut chutney and a mildly tangy sambar, it felt both homely and refined.
Bhajji Dosa
The bhajji dosa was a delightful surprise. Chef Kosha’s version combines the crunch of traditional bhajji with the warmth of a perfectly made dosa. The spiced potato and vegetable bhajji filling added a satisfying texture and bold flavors, making each bite memorable. It’s a creative dish that still stays true to South Indian roots.
Overall Experience
Chef Kosha deserves appreciation for the consistency, presentation, and thoughtful flavor balance in both dishes. The food feels crafted with care, and the unique dosa variations make the meal exciting without straying too far from tradition.

Excellent food and service! The Dahi Poori and Onion Dosa were highlights of our meal. The Chole Bhature was also delicious. Definitely a 5-star experience all around. Leaving my dahi poori’s pic here

Trusha and Jinal, were extremely useless customer service representatives in the restaurant. We asked to give managers name they straight away declined stating that they have been advised not to give name and contact details. Stupid of them.
Let’s talk about food first.
We ordered soup it was cold, the noodles were sour and the chutnies were not at all good they were tasteless. We ordered momos (please check image) they gave us modak like momos stupid and in such less quantity.
We order jeera rice and dal tadka; the dal was sour and burnt did not taste good. The quantity and quality was bad. The food was not all worth the money!

The only thing to the quality was Jeera rice as well as Mango Lassi. Also dosa’s were ok ok. The coconut chutney was bitter as well.

With an immense disappoint I have to write this review for one of this location that. First of all there was no sign board that where is sankalp not sure what happened to that, the restaurant was not easily findable. There was a live music in the restaurant the guy was singing good but, it was like very loud music it was not a pleasure experience as a Sankalp as a brand. We requested to give us a table that was just a bit far from the music, they said no we cannot there is no table available. There was one table right in front of me and they said it will stop kitchen service we cannot give you like if it’s not feasible to sit then why the hell you have a table overe there, later on they said no no it’s booked for a group of people and we cannot give. We did call them ahead of time but they said we don’t take reservations., and if you guys cannot accommodate the customer needs, what type of customer service you are providing and what type of customer service business you are into?

We also did request to at least reduce the volume a bit, however, they just declined saying no no that is not possible at all. This is the worst thing I have ever heard. Like what the hell is this service that you are into? You guys should understand what customers wants. And it was not just us, there were other customers not happy with the same. Please have it taken care off this was a very disappointing experience. Like worst.

The staff is not well trained and they are not supportive at all.
Overall the experience was worst would not even visit again.

We have visited different locations for sankalp they are far better than this.

I recently visited Sankalp Restaurant in Oshawa and had a wonderful experience overall. The food was delicious, with each dish bursting with authentic South Indian flavors. I especially appreciated the chutneys, which tasted fresh and true to tradition-definitely a highlight of the meal. The ambience was warm and inviting, making it a great spot for both family gatherings and casual dining. The staff were pleasant and attentive, adding to the positive atmosphere and ensuring we felt welcome throughout our visit.

One area for improvement would be the washrooms, which could use a bit more attention to cleanliness. They seemed somewhat neglected during my visit. However, this was a minor issue in an otherwise enjoyable dining experience.
Overall, I highly recommend Sankalp Oshawa for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine and friendly service. Looking forward to coming back!
