Sankalp in Southern River has become one of my absolute favourite restaurants, and every visit is just as enjoyable as the last.

We always feel so welcome here. The atmosphere is warm, the staff are kind and attentive, and the restaurant itself is beautifully kept – so clean and inviting, right down to the restrooms. It really adds to the whole experience.

This time we enjoyed crispy, flavourful samoosas to start, followed by a comforting dhall makhani and a fragrant vegetarian biryani. The food is always fresh, delicious, and full of flavour – I have never once been disappointed.

What I love most is that it’s not just about the food (though it’s outstanding every time), but also the feeling of dining in such a luxurious yet affordable place. It’s somewhere you can relax, enjoy, and know you’ll be well looked after.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff and management for always making every visit so special – your effort and care never go unnoticed.

Had Fried rice with Manchurian balls for the first time and thoroughly loved it. It was nice and spicy as requested. Loved the Chai Tea and Salted Lassi. Will be back. $30.00

Just had dinner there. Firstly, the customer service is very bad. We are family of 4 with 2 kids. We didn’t book a table (the restaurant was empty), requested for a big table as we wanted to try variety of food. The lady attended us told all the other tables are reserved even though we could not see any reservation sign on any table. We had to squeeze in the smallest table with lots of plates and cutleries. Lots of the big tables were still empty when we left.
Food was below average. Chicken Chettinadu tasted horrible. We left the whole curry after tasting.
We usually go out very often.. first impression with Sankalp restaurant is the worst. You lost a nice customer.

We recently celebrated my Dad’s 80th birthday with a lunch for about 40 guests, and Sankalp Restaurant Southern River made it an unforgettable experience. They customised the menu for our group, and the food was fresh, delicious, and incredibly generous in portion size. All our guests were very impressed and full of compliments.

The staff were warm, friendly, and extremely helpful, assisting us with the setup, photos, and cake cutting, which made the whole celebration smooth and stress-free.

Thank you to the wonderful team at Sankalp Southern River for helping make this milestone celebration so special and memorable for our family. Highly recommend!

Definitely giving me home food vibe and not the professional chef kitchen made food. I had chole batura and it was oily and did nit taste like authentic batura. Chole however tasted good. Tea was also not very great.
Service took a lot of time but was good when they actually came to get my order. They also prioritised the food I bought for my baby and it came out first. That was very good.

Might come in another day to try out some other food too to see if it was just that particular day’s food which had some issues.

Absolutely loved my experience at Sankalp!
The food is packed with flavour and feels so authentically Indian. Their lunch menu is amazing value — generous portions, great variety, and everything tasted so fresh. I tried a few entrées as well and they were all spot on, especially the dosas and the crispy starters.

The service is warm and welcoming, and the whole place has a really clean, cosy vibe that makes you want to stay longer. Drinks menu is great too — lots of options to pair perfectly with your meal.

Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants around. Highly recommend checking it out if you want something delicious, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable! ️✨

I don’t think I’ve ever been this disappointed by any Indian food chain the way I have been by this branch of Sankalp. The Westminster branch is absolutely amazing, but this one doesn’t even come close. I’ve dined here three times since they opened, and every time I’ve left with uneaten food on my plate.

I ordered the exact same dishes we usually get at Sankalp, and oh my God, what a shame. A name alone can’t buy you fame. Please get better chefs and staff, and at the very least, start serving fresh food. The staff were also quite rude from the moment we arrived, as if they didn’t even want to be there.

As a food scientist who has worked in multiple food industries, I can tell just by appearance how fresh the food is, and this was far from it.

Overall, very disappointing.
I highly recommend visiting the Westminster branch instead, you’ll immediately notice the difference.

We ordered veg Manchurian with gravy, butter chicken, chat papdi and garlic naan today and they were all disappointing. Chat papdi was so dry and half of the container was full of sev. Not even a single dish tasted fresh. We were expecting something closer to proper Indian flavours, but it fell short. For the price, it didn’t feel worth it. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and improves the quality.

I wasn’t really impressed with the taste of the food — it lacked flavour and didn’t quite meet expectations. The ambience was decent and the place looked okay overall, but nothing particularly special. The prices also seemed to be on the higher side compared to the quality and portion of the food served. Overall, it felt a bit overpriced for what you get.

Absolutely disappointing. What was served looked nothing like a proper dessert — just a burnt, soggy mess drowning in overly sweet sauce. The brownie was rock hard in some parts and mushy in others, like it had been microwaved ten times. The ice cream melted instantly and turned into a watery puddle, mixing with the syrup into an unappetizing sludge.

The presentation was sloppy, sauce spilled all over the sides, and it looked rushed and careless. For something that’s supposed to be indulgent and comforting, this was just greasy, overly sweet, and unpleasant.
