Food was good, having lived in south Texas it was not comparable. Service was excellent though, and it has a nice atmosphere near the lake. Chips and salsa was very good, wish it was hotter salsa. The sweet tea was superb, looks like maple syrup and it was sweet the way sweet tea should be, I’d call it Alabama sweet tea. Five dollar tip left.

Unassuming little place with great service and extensive food menu. If you’re trying to figure out where to eat tonight – this is it!

Great service. Checked on us throughout the meal. Nice outside patio. The food was good. Large portions. Moderately priced. Would dine there again.

Nice quant little Mexican restaurant tucked away on Lake Conroe. The Alambras was terrific and great House margaritas as well. Only downside is no homemade tortillas.

We visited this location based on a couple recommendations to us, looking for food similar to that found on the west coast. The parking lot is right off the street and we almost missed it once we crossed the bridge over Lake Conroe. When we arrived, and it was not busy and we were seated immediately. Every one of the employees we contacted were smiling and very kind, they asked if we needed anything multiple times during the meal. The restaurant was clean and very colorful. Music was playing but not too loud. We ordered the chicken enchilada with beans and rice, and the chicken/beef chimichanga with beans and rice and a bowl of gravy. They brought out chips and salsa. The salsa gave me a new experience. It was warm which I have never had before, and it had a taste similar to vegetable soup. The chips had good flavor and the salsa was good too. Neither were the best I’ve had. The food came out and was not very hot. The chicken enchiladas, beans, and rice were warm but not hot. We didn’t say anything because is wasn’t that big of a deal to us. The chimichanga was hot and the steak inside was tasty. The cheese inside was similar to Velveeta cheese or canned nacho cheese. Not terrible, but not what I expected. I tried the gravy as I am new to the term gravy at Mexican restaurants. It was not very good to me. It tasted like chili with mushy chunks of lard. I tried it by itself, with chips, and with my chimi. It was not good in every attempt. This is my taste only and it may be a favorite to many others.
The best part of the meal were the kind and attentive employees, the atmosphere, and the beans and rice, There may be other dishes that are amazing, but ours were not today. I saw another person eating a salad and it looked great. I saw another person that ordered taco and they looked amazing. Still on the fence if we go back for another try since I see so many positive reviews.

UPDATE — May 15, 2021
Changed from 3 stars to 1 star.
My apologies if anyone went here based on my review.
Today’s salsa was just runny. Horrible.
It was just as watery as the “frozen” strawberry margarita.
Awful.
Spinach quesadillas were inedible.
Beef fajitas were hot, not sizzling and tasted funky.
Overhead a couple ask the waitress to reheat her dish.
On the way home and for the next three hours—nauseas.

Amazing frozen strawberry margarita!!!!
Don’t let me have more than one!
The salsa was one of the best—I’d not best I’ve had in the area. The verde salsa was awesome, as well.
We had a VERY LARGE group (30-40). Some didn’t get their meal anytime close to others of our four tables (even when sitting at the same table).
My spinach and chicken enchiladas were disappointing. The chicken was cubed. The spinach didn’t have the seasoning flavor really integrated into the enchilada—until the next day as leftovers.
The rice and beans did not stand out.
My pal had the red snapper on a skillet, which also had steak, chicken, shrimp and veggies. His chicken was bland and over cooked. Steak was good. Fish was over cooked—possibly on the flattop. Shrimp was average.
Charro beans were better the next day.
I heard someone say they didn’t like the chicken/tortilla soup—it tasted fishy to her.
Wonderfully kind staff.
I think there were just too many of us for them.
I’d like to give them a second chance, for sure.
Worth going back for the drinks and salsa.
