More context if you’d like it ♀️: There is a traditional ice cream counter right up front if you’d like to take your ice cream to go but they don’t allow you to order there if you’d prefer to eat inside. You have to taste your ice cream at the counter and then go wait to be seated, given menus , and wait for someone to come take your order . Then you order at the table what you already knew you wanted at the counter 5-10 minutes ago! lol
The place also serves pizza so I guess it’s a way to get tips & justify taking up a table that could have been used for those having full meals.
We were looking to have some ice cream on a day yesterday. Perfect place. They have both indoor and outdoor sitting.
P.S. I highly recommend the coffee caramel crunch with marshmallow topping!
From the classic flavors to the old-school atmosphere, everything about SF Creamery feels timeless. If you’re looking for amazing ice cream and a spot that hits you right in the memories, this is the place.
Response to the owner response: Actually, we would have been just fine paying a sales tax had we been given that option. And the options you just mentioned were never offered, instead we stood in the dining room to eat. That’s what was so odd about the entire experience — we were not asked to leave the dining area, we were just told we could not sit at the table since we ordered “to go”. Considering that most restaurants do not enforce this law you’re referencing, it would make sense to have employees offer options and briefly explain when enforcing it.
I won’t suggest you take sandwiches there as it was really not up to standard
