I ordered 2 party trays for my japanese sister in law who hasn’t been able to enjoy sushi for 9 months.
Sam’s sushi smashed it. Incredibly great service who accommodated our food allergy and called to clarify any questions. The sushi was beautiful, delicious, and so plentiful. The trays are great value.
I can’t wait to come back and patron them again. Highly recommend! The nigiri and Sashimi especially were my favorites. Thank you

Great value for the price! Super casual spot for decent sushi. Very much a sports bar vibe going for it. Service was nice and fast. Nothing fancy or crazy about this spot. The food is mid but fairly priced for what it is. You’ll find all the regular sushi options here. Great for a casual and quick lunch or dinner. Great location as well, easy to get to and near the shops in Ballard.

The pros were it’s very affordable and the sushi is really good. They have an extensive menu with a variety of offerings. We got nigiri and four rolls to share. The cons were the nigiri was a smidge frozen still…not every piece but a few. It was freezing with the AC blowing on us in a booth on a rather cool day. The server was very kind, however, it took them a very long time to get to our table and they hardly checked in. I believe there were only two servers for the entire restaurant (it’s small) it just felt a bit “hands off” from what I’m used to. Overall if you’re looking for an affordable and delicious sushi option I’d recommend coming here and maybe doing take out!

We’ve been eating with you guys for a while now! In the past we’d order a Philadelphia roll which is a classic simple roll you can get anywhere.
Well we just placed an order for two and a California roll for takeout. Upon getting the bill we were shocked to see it was 50 dollars for 3 rolls and miso. Opened the takeout and saw our “Philadelphia roll” was smothered sauce, fish egg, and slabs of fish.
We went back to explain that our unopened sushi was not what we ordered and that we wanted to get our money back and order the normal Philly roll. They refused and pointed at a photo on their menu of what they are now calling a “Philadelphia roll” for 15 bucks.
Feels kind of messed up to tell your customers they’re ordering a very classic roll only to charge them 15 dollars for some crazy roll that resembles nothing of a Philly roll. This was all over the phone and they didn’t tell us the price.
I dunno. Seems shady. They weren’t willing to fix it for us. Never coming back

Great little sushi spot and more. The atmosphere is amazing and the restaurant is very high quality. This is one of my favorite spots for sushi and katsu in Ballard. The katsu chicken is amazing and everything else is too. Would definitely recommend!

Sam’s Sushi Bar & Grill in Ballard, Seattle, is a cozy, family-run gem with some of the best sushi around. The Bruce Lee, Dynamite, Seattle, and King Kong rolls are all standout choices. Coupled with their super friendly and attentive staff, it’s the perfect spot for sushi before a movie nearby. Definitely a highlight in Seattle’s sushi scene!

One of the best sushi spots around. They offer fresh and jam packed filled sushi rolls as evidenced in my accompanying pictures. I love the balance of their sushi rolls because they aren’t overly or under-sauced. Just perfect!

Small, sushi restaurant squished between a coffee shop and cobbler. I wouldn’t have thought to try it if I didn’t see people constantly eating here. We arrive around 7 PM on a Saturday and it was busy, but we were still seated immediately. The staff was polite and brought our rolls out in about 10 minutes. The rolls were decent – we ordered the Crunch Roll, Seattle Roll, and Unakyu Maki. Unfortunately, our waiter seemed to have forgot the Crunch Roll, so it never arrived. The rolls were both large and tasty. The Unakyu didn’t hold together very well and was difficult to eat. The flavor was OK, the barbecue eel tasted strange. The Seattle Roll was good. Good sushi spot, but there are cheaper and better tasting options closeby.
