Thanks to all of the reviews, we decided to try Sam’s, and it was so good! Red beans and rice, fish, and shrimps were great. The potato salad was just ok. Will go again when we’re in the area.

We came off Lake Murray hungry and when our original place to eat fell through we stumbled upon this amazing little restaurant nestled in Ardmore off the beaten track. The food was ALL amazing! It came out fast and piping hot! The waitress was super sweet and very attentive. Between four adults and four children we ordered half then menu and everything tasted wonderful! I had the homemade gumbo and it was better than the gumbo I got in New Orleans earlier this summer! The cheese sticks and cheddar peppers were hot and fresh! The fried fish was melt in your mouth delicious! So happy we decided to eat here! You should too!

This place is amazing. Huge portions, not pricey. Hand breaded shrimp. Hand breaded fried green tomatoes. Waitstaff was wonderful! My new favorite place in Ardmore to eat.

Tonight was our first experience at Sam’s and we loved it. It’s definitely a don’t judge a book by its cover kind of place. My husband got the double southern burger and I got the shrimp po boy and both were cooked well and tasted great. The veggies were fresh. The fries were seasoned well.
The man serving us was kind and fast.

Bobby was such a wonderful server/cashier! So helpful and kind, and a wonderful person to chat with. Loved my shrimp so much I took it home, the catfish was beyond tasty, the red beans and rice was superb, the hush puppies were fantastic, and the potato salad was delicious. Definitely my new go to spot for fish and shrimp! Definitely coming back soon!

Seems they have changed recipes since my last visit. Not in a good way. Ordered fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. They were a soggy, greasy mess and not green but red. The catfish was very crunch no flavor except freezer taste. The service was very good. Unfortunately I am now looking for a new seafood place.

Man! You gotta try the shrimp! The catfish is decent, not the best ever. I don’t know how they get those big ole shrimp this far inland while still tasting that good. I would go there even if that was the only thing on the menu. The staff is super friendly and the prices aren’t bad. If you eat like I do you can expect to spend about $16 – $18 per plate but I order six shrimp and get at least 8 every time.

Excellent service and a very good meal – admittedly a picky eater and love fried oysters. Tried them and catfish – oysters were done perfectly, batter just a bit salty for me (to each his own). Fish was a bit overdone (thinner fillets) but tasty, good cornmeal batter. Red beans and rice side was very good – not bland. Green beans – well those are almost foolproof – solid. Will be back again – my first visit.
