We visited Sam’s in Lake Havasu City last month, and while we’ve had great experiences here before, this visit missed the mark.
I came in early and was seated at a table that still had a tip left on it. A staff member removed it—which I understand—but the way it was handled felt a bit uncomfortable, like I might be suspected of taking it. Then another staff member seemed concerned about the missing tip, which delayed taking my drink order. The place was nearly empty, but the staff just seemed annoyed to be there.
I ordered the scrambled eggs, and they tasted like Egg Beaters—solid yellow with no whites at all, almost like boxed eggs. Not great. The biscuits and gravy I got were also disappointing—the biscuits tasted freezer-burned, and I stopped after a few bites. My wife ordered over-easy eggs and sausage, and unfortunately, she found a hair in her eggs. To their credit, the staff did take her meal off the bill.
One thing I’ve always liked about Sam’s is their great selection of flavored coffee creamers—that’s a nice touch.
We don’t want to bash the place because we’ve had great meals here before, but this day just wasn’t it. We’ll definitely give it another try, though.
My companions had a normal breakfast and that looked fine. One of my companions had a patty melt sandwich and it could have used a little bit more hamburger.
Like I said I don’t like giving bad reviews but I would not really recommend this place.
There was a man that brought our order out who was very friendly and I told him he was the friendliest person there today. He said he was new. We ordered a patty melt, and a breakfast burrito and both items were average. Nothing to write home about. Needless to say, I don’t think we will be coming back to eat at this place anytime soon.
Both plates of food arrived cold the moment they were sat down. ironically, the eggs were the “hottest” thing we received. Pulled a nice big black hair out of my singular pancake. Never was offered a refill on iced tea, coffee was offered but the mug was only ever half filled. Hashbrowns overcooked, eggs had a lack of any real flavor, sausage was alright, my partner liked her bacon.
The icing on top? An older gentleman, who I presume to be the owner/general manager/or a similar equivalent, was sat down next to us about the time we finally received our food (after sitting there an hour). The staff had a drink in his hand and hot food on his table in under 5 minutes. What a smack in the face.
Cute atmosphere and decorations, poor service, and worse food. New locals and will not return.
