Best homemade pizza. We stopped by after hiking at Starved rock state park and reading all the positive reviews we decided to try this place. The joint takes you back to time, Sam is an amazing person to interact with and funny. He is really hardworking and super fast as well, we got our pizza within 20 mins. For $10 I was expecting the pizza to be average, but I was so wrong. I ended up eating more slices than I usually do. I would go back again. This is a must visit when you are in Oglesby.

This is one of those town favorites, great pizza, Sam’s hard working one man show. And everyone keeps coming back for a reason. If they phone isn’t going through, just order in person Sam sometimes gets too busy to attend calls.

Pizza was amazing. Sam is very funny. It was definitely worth the wait. Suggest to Go inside and order he’s getting a little old and might need reminded. Definitely would come back. Cheap pizza!

Sam, the owner, is super friendly and funny. He interacts with his customers like they are family. He makes his own pizza dough as if he was in Italy. The value is insane. He should be charging more. Great taste and value! I wish I could go back.

I’m not too sure how to describe what I just witnessed…. The pizza was good. The prices were crazy good. I didn’t want sausage but I got it anyway and he insisted. It was good. I’m glad I didn’t walk out when I walked in. Sam is hilarious. I’m not sure if he’s deaf or not. I’m not sure if he snuck out of the nursing home and he’s got the real Sam in the back tied up? But I’m glad we found this place. We were traveling and hungry! “Happy Easter”!?! And “moor powwa”… I gave him $20 for a $10 pizza because… I think I was hypnotized? I’m not sure. You’ll have to see for yourself… It was a 3 star pizza but…. I’m so confused.

Best pizza, small town #1 pizza! I listened to some of the other reviewers and the deal of this pizza is great. The owner is incredibly nice and friendly. And the crust is perfect and the sauce is so flavorful. I would definitely recommend this place! Coming here every time I’m in the area!

Wow, I’m on a two-week trip to the United States, and this’s my fifth time on the continent. And this is definitely the most amazing experience I have had in the United States. To meet a man who has been in the same place for more than 50 years and the place seems to have not changed at all and to see all his love for pizza – it’s wow
If you’re traveling in the US you must get there

Came from Chicago to Starved Rock and tried Sam’s Pizza. We paid 1,500$(discounted from 9,532$) for the most rich and flavorful Cheese Pizza I’ve ever had. Please if you come here respect this man’s craft. He is just one man and he makes the dough and sauce himself. Sam’s a bit hard to understand but he’s hilarious and friendly. Treat Sam as if you were in his home, and enjoy a delicious pizza.

Simple little place that serves pizza. Husband and I were sick of the chains and other locals always take about Sam’s. Decided to try it last night and WOW! We called in for takeout for a large with sausage and mushrooms and it was AMAZING. We waited until we got home to dig in and just by the smell alone we knew it would be delicious! The crust is not a cracker crust and not the thick and doughy kind but somewhere it between. The sauce was sooooo flavorful. Not sure what he puts in it but it packs a punch! Cheese was perfectly melted and I loved the sausage he used. 10/10 Would recommend! One large was enough for the both of us and we’re usually big eaters. It was cheap too! Not sure if he takes cards. We just paid with cash. Was only like 10 bucks and the hubby left him a tip too. We will be back!
