Good:
– Solid mint coffee latte drink – super refreshing and adding the foam was unique
– The loco moco was really hearty and the beef was extra tasty
– Nice servers even though the wait was very long
– Super cute and modern decor! Cute home-like ambiance and very clean – good double date location
Bad:
– We waited about an hour for our food – it seemed like they were too busy on the day that we arrived.
– On the more expensive side
Overall this was a cute find – would come again if they aren’t understaffed.
The walls of the restaurant were filled with production posters with cast signatures. I hear the actors and production crew usually order good from here.
First, the decor inside was so cute. The menu was simple but offered a variety of fusion options including vegetarian dishes.
The service was quick and appropriate. The restaurant had two dining rooms plus patio seating. They’re busy. But our waitstaff was friendly and attentive. I don’t like too chatty wait staff but I also hate when being ignored and not having my water refilled. So he did appropriately to anticipate our needs and came to fill our water before I even had to ask. He didn’t rush us even though there’s a line. He allowed us to enjoy.
The dishes shown in pictures were delicious. Soup was delicious and surprisingly light with cream. Calamari was a mixture of east and west flavors. I loved a little spicy kick. The short rib melt in your mouth. Pork chop was marinated well and the salmon was fresh and cooked to perfection.
Overall, this is a good place to try the next time you’re in the City. It’s also just steps away from the theater.
My only complaint was that there’s a big group in the dining room, too loud.
Waiter did try but for the price level your better elseware.
Food was mediocre and settled for drink selection. Does seem like a lot of effort is being made here.
Lots of solo diners.
The fish and chips did smell on point though.
Service: 3/5
Ambiance: 3/5
Portion to Price: 3/5
Overall: Food was a bit bland for my liking
The extended review…
Food:
Loco Moco – 3/5 – The dish was very bland. I was hoping that the gravy was a bit more flavorful.
Service: 3/5 – Standard service.
Ambiance: 4/5 – Nice interior but it’s unfortunately in a less desireable part of town.
Portion to Price: 3/5 – A little in the pricer side but it’s in line with mid priced establishments.
Sam’s is a cozy American eatery filled wall to wall with signed posters of all the shows to come through the Orpheum. The Hamilton themed menu was fun to see after going to the show.
Drinks are a must here. They excel in every category. Food has huge portions and fun options. The fire chicken was indeed fire, and spicy too. Fish and chips were prehistoric in size. Bolgolgi beef tacos were a hit.
Vegetarians: there’s multiple options, we went with the chickpea sandwich which was beautifully delivered and felt fresh.
