Sam’s is truly exceptional and without question one of the best on-mountain dining experiences I’ve ever had in the U.S. The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. Cocktails are excellent, the wine list is very well curated, and the food is on another level for a mountain restaurant. Also, offers the most beautiful views.

Standout dishes for me were the carpaccio, the trout, and the lobster with pesto pasta — absolutely outstanding. The bolognese pasta was also fantastic, rich and comforting.

Sam’s somehow manages to feel relaxed and cozy while delivering food and service that rival top restaurants off the mountain. A must-visit in Snowmass — I couldn’t recommend it more.

I went to Sam’s last week and had an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious and everything came out perfectly. The service was excellent, and Felicitas, our server, was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcome. She truly made the experience even better. I would definitely come back and highly recommend it!

Sans is a way above average on mountain restaurant. It’s not the best Italian food ever, and it is expensive. But the experience, is well worth it. It’s just an absolute pleasure to sit down to a nice meal, in a relaxed atmosphere with great views after a morning of skiing. Hence the 5 stars.

Great food, atmosphere, and service. Kudos to Paul and the kitchen team on the beautifully prepared Tomahawk steak. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and the manager was thoughtful enough to wrap up the bone so we could take it home to our dog. She was very happy!

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with stunning mountain views, and the Carajillo cocktail was one of the best I’ve ever had. The Rigatoni Bolognese was delicious, and I especially appreciated that half portions are available. However, while the salad was huge and visually impressive, it was very dry and lacked dressing and flavor.

The biggest issue we had with this experience was that service was extremely slow—we waited an hour for our food. Although our server kindly comped one couple’s pasta dish and apologized, none of the other meals were discounted, despite everyone at the table being affected by the delay. With lift tickets costing what they do, food should arrive in a timely manner so valuable ski time and money aren’t wasted.

Update – Jan 2026

Although the food is still great, the service has declined significantly! Our server was slow and didn’t seem to care about us at all. Instead, he was cleaning tables so much that he forgot about our food.

A disappointing experience from our last visit.

Sam’s restaurant is conveniently located at the top of the village express lift, offering a unique dining experience beyond just grabbing a quick bite. If you plan to visit, it’s highly recommended to make a reservation in advance because of its popularity. Once seated, be prepared to spend at least an hour enjoying your meal, as the service tends to be more relaxed.

The food is excellent, and don’t miss trying the appetizers. Our server, Nicolas, was exceptional, and all of our dishes arrived promptly.

If you’re looking for a quick lunch, this might not be the best choice. However, if you want a more relaxed, longer break, Sam’s provides a charming sit-down setting with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It could be the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a meal if you have the time to spare.

Sam’s is definitely a local must-try for an on-mountain restaurant at Snowmass. Fine dining with stellar views and not too expensive pricing. Elevate your business meeting or treat your ski group to delicious house made bread and tasty dishes, the atmosphere matches you. One of the few places where you cannot go wrong with the menu choices. Would recommend a reservation! It’s worth it.

Perched atop the majestic Sam’s lift in Snowmass Mountain, Sam’s Knob isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a culinary adventure worth strapping on those ski boots for. As seasoned visitors, my crew and I make this ascent a mandatory pit stop every time we hit the slopes, and boy, does it never disappoint.

Prepare your taste buds for a rollercoaster ride of flavor, courtesy of a menu that’s as dynamic as the mountain itself. We embarked on our latest culinary journey with gusto, diving into an array of tantalizing dishes that left us swooning. The pesto prosciutto pizza was a slice of heaven, marrying fresh flavors with the perfect crispy crust. The chicken liver pate was a decadent delight, spreading smoothly over toasted bread like butter on a warm ski slope. And who could forget the chilled tiger shrimp diavolo, packing a spicy punch that warmed us from the inside out.

But the surprises didn’t stop there. The lamb burger was a juicy revelation, each bite bursting with savory goodness. And just when we thought we couldn’t possibly eat another bite, the spumoni dessert beckoned with its promise of sweet satisfaction. Paired with a scoop of velvety lemon sorbet, it was the perfect ending to our mountain feast.

And let’s not forget about the service and ambiance, which were as stellar as ever. The staff is ensuring that every need was met with a smile. And as we dined, the breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks reminded us why we keep coming back to this mountain oasis.

Oh, and did I mention the cherry on top? The dedicated locker room where you can bid adieu to your clunky ski boots and slip into provided slippers like Cinderella after the ball. It’s the little luxuries like these that make dining at Sam’s Knob feel like a true indulgence.

So, whether you’re craving a culinary escapade or just looking to refuel after a day on the slopes, Sam’s Knob is the place to be. Just be warned: once you’ve experienced the magic of this mountain gem, you’ll find it hard to dine anywhere else.

Reservation is must.

Stopped by Sam’s for a drink after a day of skiing. The restaurant is at the top of Sam’s Knob in Snowmass and is absolutely georgous inside. I’ve been to a couple of fancy on mountain dining establishments where you need to take a lift, specifically at Vail, Keystone, & Beaver Creek and Sam’s at Snowmass takes the cake for setting and decor without a doubt. We have not tried the food yet but plan to do so. This is a special place!
