I recently ordered dinner to go from Samikcha Momo and tried the Coconut Chicken Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala. The service was friendly and efficient, and both dishes were flavorful and well-prepared. My only minor critique is that the portion sizes could be a bit more generous for the price. Overall, I definitely recommend this place for anyone craving tasty and authentic dishes.

Samikcha Momo has fantastic food and is absolutely worth visiting—especially for anyone who has tasted the delicate, balanced flavors of Indian-Nepali cuisine in India and struggles to find places in the Bay Area that truly replicate them.
The chili paneer is lovely, nicely spiced without being overly hot, so you get the flavor and warmth without the uncomfortable after-burn. The egg fried rice is super well done, with crispy bits of rice that add texture and depth. It’s flavorful but not spicy, which makes it approachable for a wide range of people.
The dumplings are made with halal meat, and they’re juicy with just the right amount of seasoning. Good, solid momos. The jhol momos are especially great, the broth adds another layer of flavor that elevates the dish.
The combo plates are a smart option if you want to sample multiple items in one go, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions. Overall, a strong choice for comforting, well-executed Indian-Nepali food.

I really enjoyed my Halal Chicken Paanak with Basmati Rice. Freshly prepared, a little spicy. Very good service. The restaurant was tidy and each diner was enjoying their food!
I’d like to return to taste more Indo-Chinese cuisine!

We had the jhol chicken momo and then the tandoori momos. Both of them were excellent and tasted very fresh. Piping hot straight from the kitchen. Definitely a restaurant worth visiting again, I would like to try other things on their menu

This place is such an underrated gem! The butter chicken is honestly the best I’ve ever had in my life. Do yourself a favor and get the cheesy naan to dip into that buttery goodness, it’s incredible!
Everything we’ve tried here has been delicious from the fried chicken momo and masala garlic fries to the tandoori lamb and more. I haven’t tried their Asian dishes yet, like the chow mein, but that’s definitely next on my list.
The customer service has always been great, the place is clean, and the prices are reasonable. I also really appreciate that they offer halal options, which can be hard to find in this area.
Definitely treat yourself and experience all that flavor!

We had a good lunch at Samikcha momo recently over the weekend. It was not crowded at all for a Saturday however I did notice quite a few takeout orders with an hour. My husband has been here multiple times and recommended that we try it out especially momos and gobhi machurian. We tried paneer tikka masala momo version and gobhi manchurian and both were delicious. We also tried vegetarian fried rice and chowmein which were ok. Overall the service was decent and appetizers great.

I just ordered their Lamb Biryani and the reviews did not lie… The food was amazing! I just found a new go to spot and it was very random too.
Well seasoned, tender with a nice level of spice.

A delicious Nepalese restaurant that is open late. Might be easy to overlook given it is tucked next to some fairly busy restaurants in San Mateo, but their food is definitely worth checking out. Service is friendly and personal, and the dining area is VERY clean.
The menu has an array of Nepalese dishes as well as various familiar Indian and Chinese items. Of the many dishes I had tried — all which I’d have again — the Chicken Momo is what I’d certainly come back for. Think chicken dumpling, but with a distinctively different set of spices and a chutney.
Lots of vegetarian and vegan options here. As far as meats are concerned, you will find chicken, lamb, goat, and fish.

We were in downtown San Mateo looking for a place to eat on Saturday night. We stumbled upon samikcha momo and knew we had to order some momo dumplings. We got the chicken dumplings steamed, the lamb biryani, and the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. The momos were big and came with a curry sauce dip, it had plenty of meat and some juice inside the dumplings, highly recommend it. The lamb Briyani was okay, we have definitely had better and the lime was interesting. The garlic naan was amazing and fresh, thin, and fluffy. It went really well with the chicken tikka masala dish. I would come back here again.
