Pastrami sandwich (we got the Chipotle Pastrami) was absolutely delicious! Texture, flavors (esp the mustard-like sauce inside), and quality were great. The $30 price point per sandwich seemed a little too high, though, for the quality – and esp for a typical lunch. With this in mind, it’s still a great stop for a tasty bite if you are prepared for the prices. We also got the half sour pickles as a side, which are a good pick if you like pickles that are mild & not sour – but not as much so if you like traditional pickles like we do. Good service overall!

Phenomenal Pastrami Sandwich. Their sauce tasted wait to get in was a longtime, so we ordered online and it was a lot faster. Their prices were fine especially considering how delicious their sandwich tasted. Staff were upbeat and I understand why when their lunch can taste that good everyday. I’m not a pickle fan but their pickles tasted great. Overall if you live amazing sandwiches do yourself a favor order the pastrami as this is top notch quality!

I honestly don’t get it. Was the pastrami and corned beef sandwich good? Absolutely! Was it $30 good? Hell no. They didn’t even offer to toast the bread and I didn’t know that was an option until hearing someone else ask for it. The teeny tiny pickle was a joke. It was a good sandwich, but I would never visit again.

Listen…this sandwich deserves an entire standing ovation.
I stopped by Sam LaGrassa’s in Downtown Boston and ordered their famous roast beef sandwich—and let me just say, it was worth every single one of those 30 dollars. Yes, it’s a $30 sandwich. But YES, I’d pay it again in a heartbeat.
The sandwich was perfectly grilled—crisp golden bread with those beautiful panini press lines—and it held together the most tender, juicy, melt-in-your-mouth roast beef I’ve ever tasted. I’m not exaggerating when I say it melted like butter. The beef was sweet, salty, and savory all at once—like it had been slow-cooked with love and sealed with flavor.
Each bite was a WOW. The layers of meat were thick and generous, paired with melty cheese and just the right touch of tang from the mustard or sauce (whatever it was, it worked magic). Nothing was dry, nothing was overdone—it was perfection.
Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but the quality, flavor, and experience made it absolutely worth it. This isn’t your average deli sandwich—this is an event.
10/10 recommend if you’re in Boston. Skip the chains. Eat here.

I’m walking aimless in Boston and passed by a sign that said, “World’s no. 1 Sandwiches”. I was ready for an experience like Buddy the Elf. But holy cow, never have I ever. The Pastrami Reuben is tender and wonderful. The experience was slap your mama good. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat another Ruben because I’ll be doing nothing but comparing it to this. I have been to the top. I’ve seen the face of God. Life is meaningless from here on out.

I started going here when I was a co op student at Northeastern and working as a Messenger for the Hale and Dorr law firm in the Winter of 1986. I grew up in the Bronx but spent my Summers in the North End and it was about as close to Arthur Ave as I could find and was generally Boston’s Best Sandwich then, as it is now. There is some competition on the cold cut sandwiches in the North End but those shops don’t offer the variety or any seating. Take out only. This place is constantly good and has the best service 5 decades running. Was two sandwiches with $60 bucks? hard to know or justify but I have no idea on his overhead. I will say this I was making $8 an hour in 1986 and ate here 2x a week for 3 years. It offered value for $. Today while still the best sandwich and service I am not sure of the value proposition. I still recommend it but it’s simply beyond the reach of the average worker in Boston as a daily lunch spot you would be at $250 a week easy if this was your go too. This is kind of sad. I still drive in a few times a year from Metro West for a sandwich. It seems more now filled with tourists than the daily Boston workers, but I suppose post COVID this new model of pricing is the only way to offset the fact that there are far less workers in Boston.

This might be the best pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had! The bread was perfectly toasted, the beef slices are so juicy and generous. I got the chipotle pastrami! Excited to try some other menus

I had the Italiano and the missus the north shore three way.
While mine was a good choice, it was definitely not the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Not even the best version of that type, one had on New York from Faicco’s deli was far superior. Glad I choose better than the wife though else this would probably be a two star review.
Staff were great too btw.
