Dined here with a few co-workers for lunch, and for a couple of us, it was our first time, including me. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I ordered the 2 meat combo that comes with 2 sides, but there is a $5 charge for ribs to be added as a meat, which is what I did. So I had ribs, barbecue, coleslaw and mac and cheese. I chose toast for my bread. Everything was delicious and the ribs fall off the bone. The ribs are good alone but I doused mine in sweet bbq sauce and it made the ribs even better. The bbq is perfect and goes really well with their coleslaw. The portions are plentiful. I had enough for two meals which I was thankful for. They were busy this day but I appreciated how the staff came around to each table to ask how was everything, so great customer service. We received our food quick considering how busy the place was and they bring your food to your table. We all enjoyed our food but a couple of us think the potato salad is just ok. The mac and cheese is good and worth a try. Altogether, I will be back for my next hankering for bbq/ribs, etc. I recommend Sam Jones to anyone for some good NC bbq.

My husband an I stopped in on a whim while we were in the area. We had our two year old and our 6month old with us. So upon walking in you have to order your food before being seated which can be a bit much coming to a place with small children and also if you never been there before. We chose the two meat plate with ribs and turkey it was an extra $5 to get a pound of ribs our sides was greens and Mac we also ordered the pork skin nachos with chopped bbq. We chose to sit at a booth which was very uncomfortable being that the table and seats were close and couldn’t be moved also the backs of the booths were so upright it was uncomfortable. The food came out quickly we barely had enough time to get situated. There was a nice amount of food plenty for us to share. The food looked nice but was a disappointment. The ribs were a bit tough and lacked flavor. They leave the membrane on the back of their ribs which is not the best idea when you’re smoking them because it turns out chewy and tough. The turkey was nice but again lacked flavor. The smoke on the meat is very mild. It’s so mild that if I knew nothing about bbq I wouldn’t have thought it was smoked. The sides were a let down as well. The Mac n cheese was hideous. Walmart serves better Mac in their deli department. My toddler refused to eat it. The greens had a vinegary taste they weren’t cut up enough. They were so big it was messy to eat. I was trying to cut them up but that wasn’t working out being that I was holding a baby. They did have a decent flavor if you like vinegar. The sweet potato muffin was nasty it literally tasted like a boiled sweet potato with no flavor. The pork skin nachos were decent. They just put to much seasoning on them so they were salty. They seasoned the wrong thing lol. I’m a person who does not like North Carolina “bbq” pulled pork or whatever you want to call it. So to my surprise the meat that was on the nachos was actually very juicy and good. I actually at a few bites. The pork skin nachos didn’t put me in the mindset of nachos. There was cheese sauce but it didn’t taste like nothing. There was no sour cream, guac , or anything that said this is nachos. It was like pork skins with chopped meat and bacon bits that’s it that’s all. If you don’t like gummy chewy textures then the pork skin nachos aren’t for you . More than likely we will not return. They need some help from a person that really knows bbq. And they need to taste what they are serving for the day. Make sure it’s up to par. I’d help them out but I’m a full time housewife, my hands are full to say the least. Wish them the best though

This was the 1st time trying Sam Jones and I will make sure it’s not my last. There food was delicious. I decided to get the barque plate with my choice of corn bread which was sweet potato. Two sides sweet cole slaw and Mac and cheese. The mac and cheese wasn’t real hot more like room temperature . I really cldnt understand that bec it opens at 11 and we were there at 11:15 , right after church. But over all it was still good. The food was not over season and there was vinegar and barbecue sauce on the table if you needed to add it to your plate. My husband had the 3 meat trio , turkey, half chicken and barbecue…OMG !!! That turkey that Turkey that turkey was the best. It was tender, tasty and tantalizing… I wanted to take my husband’s plate.. this place is so underrated. Now on the bad side. Y’all please do something with your floors. I almost fell twice . Like I literally almost fell. The floor was greasy. It’s as if oil was spilled on it and they just cleaned it with cold soap water.. it was horrible. So please do something with your floors before you all have a law suit.

We were pretty disappointed with the food here. My husband and I were visiting the area and were excited to have some great barbecue. Unfortunately, the pork was dry and flavorless, and the cornbread was terrible. It was like rubber, dense and bland, essentially inedible. We thought someone must’ve messed up the recipe until we read other reviews. The sides were decent and the service was good. But unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place for good barbecue.

Ordered online, chose the curbside option put my car details in but never received a link to click on for when i arrived so i called and explained that, the lady that answered stated i can come inside to get it because it was a takeout order, i told her i meant to do curb side and put the car details in so I’m not sure what happen so she said she will bring it out to me but whoever they sent out was rude i said thank you like 3 times and the girl just looked at me didn’t smile the whole time. Then i asked for a diet drink and received a regular drink. Food was good but service was horrible. I tipped on a take out order and they were still mad they had to bring it to me outside lol. Probably won’t be back anytime soon.

Our first visit here was for take out and it was a definite winner. Aside from being a bit cold (probably our fault for doing take out), the chopped pork was the best I’ve had in NC – so tender, moist and flavorful. Sides (slaw and mac & cheese) were decent and the sweet potato roll was tasty. The banana pudding was the finishing touch – and a fine one it was. Sam’s is definitely bookmarked for our next visit to the area.
