I came here for restaurant week and I am very glad I didn’t come when the food was full price. This place deserves 1 star if it weren’t for the very kind wait staff (shoutout to Courtney to being an amazing server). I’m pretty sure this place is a Sysco kitchen (although they won’t admit it).

We ordered the onion dip, the jambalaya pasta, the pot roast, and the pecan crumble. The onion dip tasted like the packets you get at the store (Lipton I’m pretty sure). The chips were great, they were obviously made in house, but the dip was mediocre at best.

The jambalaya pasta, or should I say soup, was a disgrace to Creole and Cajun cuisine. The sauce was so watery it was pooling at the bottom of the plate, the sausage was cut in so many different ways, and the entire dish lacked any flavor (which goes against everything both of these cuisines are known for). The pasta was also incredibly mushy.

The pot roast actually ruined my taste buds. It was so incredibly salty I needed to chug my water. There was also a 2:1 ratio of meats to carrot (carrots being the majority of this dish). The mashed potatoes tasted like they were powdered.

Finally, the pecan crumble. Or rather the pecan oatmeal. It was literally oatmeal that had pecans, microwaved, and topped with ice cream. I was so disappointed but I ate it because I couldn’t eat anything else that night.

DON’T COME HERE. the food is so bad that I can’t even begin to fathom spending $25 for a plate here is justifiable. If you want something equivalent to the food quality (or maybe even better) go to chilis or Applebees. At least they are honest that their food is not fresh.

Sam Hill is cozy with a great menu. We came specifically for brunch and it was enjoyable. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We’ll bring a group back to check it out during the summer where the open patio is sure to be a good time. Try the tomato pies!

Stopped for lunch in August for lunch. It was easy to get seated not many people here. I got the smash hamburger with fried potato chips. The hamburger was delicious but the fried chips were way to salty. I love salt. You might want to substitute for sweet potato fries or salad for an upcharge. Looks like there is an outdoor patio and chairs on the lawn. Looks like they have entertainment outside on the lawn which might be fun in the warmer weather. I would stop again if in the area.

Great Happy Hour, nice staff, fun atmosphere. I love Culvers across the street, but I can’t believe they can compete with Sam Hill since the food/prices are on par but the atmosphere is way better. I’ll keep this place in mind if I need a party space…

Great food and service! Came here with about 10 people, had Christian as our waiter and he was excellent. Plenty of parking. We had the tomato pies (to die for), The Hot Brown (beautiful open faced sandwich), toasted ravioli, shrimp and grits with fresh big shrimp, grits were seasoned well, and the Creekside Cobb which was so good with the goat cheese. We would definitely come back for the food and the sit at the bar for cocktails. The bar is nice!

We had my Mom’s 90th Birthday Celebration here. Such a great team, lead by Jonathan. They were attentive, helpful and caring. They made the event worth every minute. The food was GREAT, some a little spicy (which I love), and plentiful for a 50 person event!!! As a family of adults and kids, everyone had a great time. Thank you for making it such a memorable time. We’ll be seeing you again, for drinks, music and socializing in the summer!!

We celebrated a baptism for our son on Sunday November 23, 2025. We reserved a room for up to 30 people, and it was the best choice for our party.

The restaurant dedicated two servers, named Chance and Rachel, who worked full time to help us enjoy the dining experience. Chance and Rachel went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. We were able to order from the full menu and bar as well. While there was a required minimum to spend to hold the room ($750), it was achievable to me with a party size of 20 or more if guests order appetizers, drinks, or dessert.

Given the importance of the event, the privacy of our room combined with the emphasis on customer service made the dining experience very enjoyable. Several guests were very impressed and mentioned how nice the restaurant was given our party size. I prefer this dining experience to several tables pushed together at any other restaurant with servers who were already spread too thin.

One final point; this restaurant uses a 3rd party booking service that communicates promptly when you email, but infrequently answers the phone or returns calls. I made 3 calls that were never returned, but received an email back within 24 hours.

Though no fault of the restaurant, we had a screaming child near us that made it hard to carry on a conversation with others at my table, some of the time.
The Fish & Chips were much greasier than my husband likes, but the Avacodo Toast was excellent.
Great place, fun!
