I’ve been here a couple times, including last night. Always great service, always great food, sizable portions, and generously priced. One of my favorite Italian spots!

The seating where my party was seated was by the bar which is a problem in the winter. Their automatic doors stay open after you which causes so much cold air to rush in. It really distracted and took away from the ambiance. I had people in my party who had to keep their jacket on the whole time. For this reason alone I will not be coming back in the winter when it’s cold. I expect a comfortable experience when eating. The calamari was good but the sauce served with it was a bit disappointing. I did enjoy the complimentary bread and oil. The bolognese pasta was great. Server was excellent.

If you are hungry, definitely do NOT go to Salvatore Scallopini because their tiny portions are only a tease. After paying $18 for Fettuccine Alfredo (with no meat), I received only one third of a bowl of noodles (maybe 10 at most) with no sides of any kind & left with the same appetite as when I arrived. So wrong! I tried going back because my boyfriend loves their food & I ordered 2 entrees, paid double, but was still not full when I left.

This is the original Salvatore Scallopini branch and is still owned by the family. Good place to sit outdoor on a sunny day. They have fresh salads, and their Pastas are all homemade.

Though I would normally give this location a 5 star I had a very dissapintinf experience. My wife and I both ordered chicken parm. Hers was cooked perfectly and mine was completely unacceptable. The cheese was burnt beyond being recognizable. I would have happily waited for another to be made, instead they put it in the bottom of my carry out bag. You can see in the pictures between the two how it was over cooked and didn’t look the same as the one made correctly. A sad day as we have truly enjoyed this restaurant many times. Hoping for a better experience next time.

Food was fresh and amazing. Our server was informative, friendly and professional(think her name was Amanda) Chicken Francese and cauliflower salad was delish! Gluten free options available and the GF spaghetti tasted like actual pasta. We will be back!

Went here with Diana and had a good meal but I wasn’t wowed by it didn’t feel worth the full bill. The drinks were fantastic. Highly recommend their spritzers. The salad however I wish was a little fresher it was a little whittled. I also would recommend to make sure they put the dressing on the side it was a little to much when they tossed it. The calamari was good but it was about average. As far as the main dishes good they were just meat no vegetables so if you were going to want them make sure you choose a side for the table to share. I had Pesce con limone wasn’t over breaded but the lemon caper sauce was way to much it over smothered the fish and had a little too much salt. Diana had the Tosca as chicken goes it was okay again to heavy on the sauce also the chicken was huge would have liked to see a smaller piece and made some vegetables to go with it. In all I would give the meal a B and it’s a good back up option but with all the other excellent options in Birmingham it wouldn’t be first choice.

FRUTTI DI MARE. Choice of 3 seafood (scallops, squid, octopus) in white sauce, substitute to black tonnarelli. Perfection!
