The Heifer Salad was super refreshing — packed with fresh berries, spring mix, feta, crunchy nuts, and a delicious dressing. The mac and cheese was absolutely bomb! The Spicy as Cluck grilled chicken sandwich was amazing — the bread was soft and fresh, and the whole sandwich felt light compared to most chicken sandwiches. The steak fries were crispy and fresh too. Totally loved the vibe of this place, and our waitress was friendly!

We went there as my friend wanted to celebrate her birthday while traveling together. I liked the furniture and setup of the dining room. The table the waitress moved us to was OK but there was food and dirt under the table. We were told that the soda fountain works only for lemonade or ice tea. We could purchase cans of soda for $3.99 each, basically the same amount as the charge for one fountain drink where refills would have been free. I wish they had offered a lower price while the fountain was out. The waitress was courteous but not interested in our group at all. Probably most people just come here once while traveling through so why show interest. The food on the other hand was really good and well presented.
They accepted Apple Pay. When you go to the restroom expect to hear loud music through some speakers.

Could have been a great experience – the interior is inviting and comfortable, the food is great and offers many options. However, it becomes quickly clear that they don’t care about anyone ever coming back.
When we dined there, the soda fountain was out of order, and the alternative was cans – but they said they’re going to charge for each can the full soda fountain price (3.99) over and over. Guys, it’s *your* soda fountain that broke, you could at least allow two or three cans per charge, or offer the cans for 2$. That ruined it for us (but who cares, we come never back anyway, right?).
The ‘medium’ burger was well-done – why do you even ask how we want it??
The rest of the service was also wham-bam-thank-you-mam style, smiles cost extra, and are you done yet, bye!!
Could gave been so nice…

Was pleasantly surprised based on 4.3 rating. We started with the French onion soup, which was very good and I don’t say this often. The buffalo burger was cocked to medium rare as ordered and I liked it wasn’t dripping with sauces. The buns could be a little bit fancier. The steak potatoes could be crunchier. The heifer salad was also very good, if you like fruit based salat.

We were visiting Wall for souvenirs, sightseeing, and to see Wall Drug one last time before we headed back home. We decided to have dinner in Wall for our last meal. We googled all the options and Salty Steer was at the top of the list. We perused the menu and we were in agreement that it sounded like a good place to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. She ordered the buffalo rib eye that came with a wedge salad and other sides and I ordered a bunch of appetizers including the deviled eggs, and the bruschetta. Everything was yummy. She didn’t want her salad so I nibbled on it. I must say it was one of the better wedge salads I’ve had. The hostess sat us right away and our waiter was friendly and attentive. We asked a lot of questions and he was very accommodating. He also made some great recommendations and made our visit very pleasant. The place is modern looking and has lots of options so I’m sure whoever is in your group will find something they would like to eat.

We are traveling with friends and came here at the end of the day for dinner. I ordered a prime sirloin medium with seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were good. The vegetables were very cold. The steak was cold, extremely thick, cooked rare and chewy. My son got the Mac and cheese, I liked it but he did not he said 2/5 he’s 12. My husband said his cut of steak, NY strip was bad but cooked correctly. The French onion soup needed salt but it was really good otherwise. The wedge salads were excellent. The drinking glasses were dirty. The restaurant it’s self is nice inside and clean. I was over all somewhat disappointed. Everyone else in our group got sandwiches or burgers and said those were excellent.

The Salty Steer in Wall, SD is a hidden gem! The modern cuisine is beautifully presented, fresh, and absolutely delicious — truly a place worth recommending. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. I loved the welcoming atmosphere and stylish interior. Can’t wait to come back on my next trip through South Dakota!

This is my 3rd year starting my rv travel season in Wall SD and 3rd year visiting Salty Steer. I just went this week 3 times and each time I was extremely happy with the food and the service. Because I travel solo my choice is to sit at the bar instead st thevtable, which feels in my case kinda isolated… and at the bar I always connect with the other visitors and definitely with the servers. STACEY Is great company, bartender fun to be around. She is funny and shes always trying way over 200%. We had good food and good laugh. Well Stacey, I will be back ” tomorfow” thank you. Michael
