A local favorite since 1972, Salty Dog provides the ultimate Boston seafood experience on an amazing outdoor patio or in our historical bar and dining room. Serving locals and travelers alike for over 50 years, our family owned and operated small business serves only fresh, local, seafood and pours Boston beers. Come sit at our raw bar while we shuck oysters to order and take in the sights of Boston’s Quincy Market, or relax on the patio with a cocktail and a lobster roll. We are open for lunch and dinner seven days a week at 11am, while also offering a children’s menu, full bar and most importantly, the good times.
Straightforward seafood outpost (plus a patio) in Faneuil Hall with a bustling vibe.

Salty Dog Seafood Grille Bar: A Boston Seafood Experience at …

I just stumbled on this place wanting to get a bite to eat before heading out. It was a Sunday in February, and completely empty inside. It has a cool historical seaside sort of vibe. The inside area is small, so seating is limited.
I had the crab cake sandwich, it was just okay. The crab was not super fresh. The fish and chips were apparently very good. The waitress actually brought over some sort of chili oil condiment and recommended it for the fries, I wouldn’t have thought of it but it was pretty good.
We had just started eating when some wind came by and blew our umbrellas ( extremely OLD ones by the way, broken too – look at pictures ) so we had to shut them or we would MOST LIKELY get HURT‼️
Other side of restaurant had a lot of shade and was empty ( mngr didn’t want to move us there saying it was closed due to no waiters on that side I would think ours could simply help us there but … )
We had to eat our food so fast due to the hot sun hitting us !!! We had a newborn and a toddler along with us.
At the end I asked the manager if we could get a discount on our $393.57 bill ( since we had to rush , our drinks got so hot, we were all sweating … he basically laughed at me saying of course not. I did explain to him nicely how we had a very unpleasant lunch due to sun hitting us, babies were uncomfortable etc and he just said : that’s not my business
Completely jerk honestly! When I told him he needed to learn some costumer service he again laughed at me and waived by by
Oh by the way it was June 22 when Boston had a heat wave …
Horrible experience!
An alternative option for 38 dollars is to rent scuba equipment and a net, for a better experience.
Once seated, we were handed menus but no utensils (we had to ask for them after our food was served). Had our order taken and despite 3 of us ordering fish and chips, each of us received completely different portions, from a standard portion to what looked like fish nuggets. One drink and a cup of soup never arrived, and we didn’t have a chance to ask for them because our server never checked on our table. We had to ask for the bill despite the dining room being completely empty other than us at the end of our meal. We then asked for the two items we didn’t receive to be removed from the bill since we were charged for them. All in all, a disappointing meal and experience. There are many other places to enjoy seafood in Boston so we won’t return to this restaurant.
The food was really good, bit pricey but we had to get that seafood!!
The oysters were local, fresh and fabulous. The stuffed Quahog was buttery and good sized! The lobster roll could not have been any better! Tasted like it was caught today. Extremely fresh tasty and comes with fries!
100% recommend. Does not miss!
