My friend highly recommended this place. I came here with my mom, who was so excited. We sat down and then sat for 15 minutes while the restaurant remained empty? We eventually got up and left and even the hostess stand was empty. Were we seated by ghosts? Did every employee take a collective smoke break? We’ll never know… photo proof of the empty restaurant as we left.

Out on one lovely Saturday and stumbled across Salt Water Cowboys. Had a very enjoyable lunch with my bestie who was super excited that they had frog legs. Salt Water Cowboys is nestled in a marsh blocks from Atlantic Ocean. We went for lunch and it was very quiet and still so you could hear some of the marsh wild life. It was a very slow day inside, server said it picks up around 4-5 pm and goes wait list for rest of night. Food was good, service great! Kid friendly, wheelchair friendly, parking. I think some nights it appears to have live music. Outside seating and no pets or service animals.

The hostess had a great personality! It is very refreshing to see young adults who can carry on a conversation. The wait wasn’t too long. The food was delicious. I had the Blackened Shrimp with French Fries & and Slaw. Food was served in a reasonable amount of time. The price was average. It was a pleasant night out.

We arrived before dinner opening at 4, seated immediately. Flounder was fish of day. I went with 3 way shrimp, the grilled BBQ shrimp on a skewer were perfect. Well seasoned mashed potatoes and sweet cole slaw. BOGO margaritas on Thursday night. Left with margaritas to go and key lime pie. Key lime pie was very sweet, not sour.

We’ve been to St. Augustine 2 times already but not until now have we been to Salt Water Cowboys! We finally managed to make a visit here over our spring break recently.
We did have a long wait for a table but we weren’t complaining. The interior vibe is very vintage looking which I liked. Our waitress was super friendly and was ready to serve.
I got an order of the Calamari as an app and that was insanely good! Crispy and fried to perfection.
And my entree was a fish sandwich with fries. And I gotta say. I’m a little picky when it comes to fish sandwiches but this had to be one of the best ones I’ve ever had! The fish was hot, fried to perfection, and had an amazing amount of seasoning in the breading! The fries were also super tasty.
Overall, if you happen to be in this area, Salt Water Cowboys is a place I’d recommend!

Its a cute little restaurant off the edge of st.
Augustine and perfect for the sunset. I will say that l’m not the biggest fan of seafood. Everything we had was just okay. Nothing to special.

Went with 6 ppl at 5pm on a Sunday, holiday weekend. We were seated immediately. Our waitress seemed stressed and only had two tables. The food was ok to terrible. The side salad was their version of a Waldorf salad, raisins, celery and raw walnuts in a syrupy dressing. Everyone tasted it and agreed it was pretty bad. The corn and crab chowder was good. Fried entrees were good (Gator tail and coconut shrimp). The crab stuffed shrimp were not eatable. The “stuffing” was a dough ball that had a raw texture. There was no evidence of crab. Two people ordered grilled fish which they reported as good. The atmosphere on the water was very nice and the sunset was spectacular. Fog rolled in afterwards and the scenery made our night enjoyable. If I ever go back, I will stick with fried shrimp.

The unique ambiance, excellent service and delicious dishes make this place 5 stars. Such a special place in the marsh with such history ❤️. We were a party of 6 and made reservations for 5:30. The place was busy but we didn’t wait long for anything. Our server Arianna was on it with our drinks and apps. She cared for us well and gave us space to socialize as well. We all enjoyed trying the Cowboy Combo app with water bites, frog legs and catfish served with tartar sauce and orange marmalade. These are the biggest and best frog legs I have ever had. We also enjoyed the fried green tomatoes with sweet chili sauce. For our mains we had the cowboy salad what a star a beautiful spring mix with red onion, dried cranberries, celery, walnuts and the house homemade apple vinaigrette. That dressing is light and delicious and the salad fresh and beautiful. I had the Swordfish on a plank with mustard cream sauce, mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. The swordfish was cleaned and cooked so well the sauce was a wonderful complement to the meaty fish. The mashed potatoes available with brown gravy as well were nicely seasoned and may have had a bit of cheese or sour cream in them. The Mac n cheese also delicious and nicely baked. The 2 hubbies had the blacked Mahi and both said it was fresh and satisfying. They also had the collars and said they were fantastic with the homemade datil pepper vinegar. Others also had the shrimp and grits, shrimp 3 way platter and steak of the day with baked beans and cheesy grits. Everyone enjoyed all of there meals and sides. The rum and cokes were well balanced. To end it the young couple with us had room for cheesecake which they said was perfectly sweet, creamy and salty in all the best ways.

Party of 4 – seated around 4:45pm. Orders of fried catfish – overly breaded and some parts were undercooked; ribs – good sauce, spare ribs (not baby back ) very fatty with thin bands of meat; blackened shrimp were good but hush puppies had a weird flavor (maybe dill) that didn’t go well; fried frog legs – maybe Ethiopian frogs because legs were very skinny and also overly breaded. Cole slaw was floating in juice and bland; fries were good and crispy. Too many good restaurants in the area to put this one back on the list. Service was prompt & efficient.
