Had brunch at Salt & Sugar. I had a really bad experience when they first opened and decided to give them another try based on some of the recent posts here.
I will say it was a much better experience this time around. Service and food were both very good.
Grayson did a great job for us. Even cortados to go on the house since we did come back and give them another try.
Had the burrata with pesto for appetizer which paired well with the warm bread provided. Simple but delicious.
Ordered off the brunch menu, which is served 11-3 I believe. Eggs in Purgatory were very good but would have preferred a little more spice. Next time I will have them add red pepper flakes. Vegetarian crepes were good. Should have let them add Parmesan cheese. Felt like it needed a little salt.
Total before taxes and tip.

The ambiance is incredible, every dish I ordered was bursting with well balanced flavors, and Edith’s service was spectacular.

Salt and Sugar Gastro Bar is an absolute gem in Houston. I had the chance to try a few dishes including the lasagna and steak, and both did not disappoint—flavorful, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with care. To top it off, the tiramisu had just the right touch of coffee to make it the perfect ending to the meal.
I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and you can truly see the passion he has for his restaurant and his customers—it shows in every detail. If you’re lucky, you might also be greeted by the hostess with the sweetest smile and the bluest eyes you’ll ever see, which makes the experience even warmer.

My two lifelong friends celebrated a birthday yesterday at Salt and Sugar. It was beyond perfect. Danny took such care of us, the food, from beginning to end was fresh, delicate, flavorful. We were making yummy sounds throughout. Presentation of each dish, like flavors, was beautiful. Atmosphere was so comfortable. I would put this lovely restaurant as my number one go to for an original menu, memorable experience. That pistachio tiramasu was divine!

Backstory: Me and my friends love to work remotely during happy hour. Typically the food is great, with sharable portions and the drinks are perfectly crafted. We talk this place up to our friend who was visiting and we are sad to report the disappointment in the portions and taste.
We ordered the caprese panini and it was a joke. We paid 16 dollars for a plate of fries and a sub sandwich the size of a thumb.
We also ordered the pesto pasta with zero taste.
The drinks were great but if the food doesn’t improve- I will be heartbroken.

Our office went for Galentines Day! We had a great time being out of the office celebrating together basically just because and exchanging gifts. Nice place it was our 1st time but the food is a hard no. It was Italian but I don’t thinks this is an Italian restaurant, unlike any Italian restaurant I’ve ever been. The flavor was missing completely but not the price. Disappointed by the food experience. Nice place to enjoy good company and have a drink but that’s about it….

What a great place to enjoy Valentine’s Day 2026. Dr John Wolfskill was playing exceptional music on Valentine’s Day at a very moderate volume level, but still enjoyable just the same. The food of course is always good here. my wife had a tenderloin steak with a red wine reduction. That was nothing short of excellent. Personally, I wish they had a reduced the wine I could’ve used some more. I have eaten here several times and never been disappointed, though occasionally my credit card felt insulted. Still there are a few enough places you can go to enjoy some really great music good food and friends. I will be back soon.

Danny our server was phenomenal he took great care of us. He provided great service, attention to detail, and ensured we had an enjoyable dinner. Great spot for a date night dinner or whole family outing, but if you go, ask for Danny you won’t be disappointed.
