For dessert, I had the lemon-infused butter cake. While it had potential, the lemon flavor was a bit overpowering and masked the richness of the butter cake itself.
I ordered everything for takeout, so I’m thinking the overall experience might be better when dining in. I do plan to come back and give it another try , hopefully, the in-house experience will bring out more of what this place has to offer.
I love that they service popovers and not cornbread!!
The pit master is the MVP here!! Look forward to visiting!
The food was outstanding and served quickly even though it was a busy Friday night and the restaurant was full.
The only downside was the customers in the next booth were extremely loud, especially when laughing, but that was not a restaurant issue at all. We will be back. We used their waitlist option as a reservation, it was great. Be sure to ask for some maple butter with the popover- it was amazing!
The menu was a delightful journey through Southern flavors, featuring cheesy jalapeño cornbread with hot honey, a hearty seafood and sausage gumbo, smoked chicken with grits and greens, and a decadent peach cobbler with bourbon butter pecan ice cream. Each dish was served in generous portions, ensuring no one left hungry.
The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, contributing to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, Salt + Smoke provided an unforgettable evening filled with delicious food, great company, and a genuine sense of camaraderie. I highly recommend attending one of these exclusive events the next time they have one!
Tonight we went for dinner with our adult daughter and my sister, for adults. There were very few people in the restaurant which immediately caused us a little bit of concern. We ordered to pull pork platters and a two meat platter. The brisket and burnt ends were unpalatable. The meat was so tough it could not be eaten. The meat was cut in large 2” square chunks which is not how brisket is served in any BBQ place Any of us had ever gone to in our combined 215 years. Without exception, all of the sides that were supposed to be hot were barely warm. My wife even asked about the popovers which were served cold if they were available fresh and hot.
Suffice to say that for $65 + tip for the nice young lady who was doing her best to help us and deal with the problems, this is not acceptable in any restaurant.
If the management of this restaurant doesn’t turn things around, this S&S won’t survive.
Go to Sugarfire in Fenton if you’re looking for barbecue office this direction. I think you’ll be a lot happier with the meal you will get there.
Where to begin.
First fun discovery.
Plastic bag in the pulled pork. Yes, a plastic bag was buried inside of our food.
Second amazing discovery. Hair inside of the wings. Baked into them. Multiple wings.
