Sal’s Original Pizza Oak Park Mall Overland Park Kansas.
The lighting was mostly mall generated where I was standing. The surfaces were clean. Napkins straws etc were accessible.
The pizzas were displayed nicely under I believe heat lights? All looked great.
You are eating in the Mall dining area which can get very loud.
We went there two days within a week. The first day I had cheese pizza and it looked exactly like 2 Bros Pizza in New York City – Chelsea. Not thin and not thick – crust ( in between). The crust was crunchy and the mix of cheese and sauce were perfect.
The next time the crust way thinner and greaser.
Much more staff and busier.
If the bar was day 1 then day 2 would be a 2.5 out of 5.
Drink was good.

Me & my wife would always go out of our way to grab pizza here. Service has always been poor or “casual,” no pleasantries, but that’s to be expected at a high-volume pizza place and never impacted how great the pizza tasted.
We noticed the sign and branding changed and hoped nothing else had. Unfortunately, it’s obvious the pizza recipe/process has changed. The quality has dropped drastically. Little to no sauce, the crust is stiff and no longer foldable like it used to be. My wife’s slice was overcooked while mine was undercooked.
To top it off, they got our order wrong and had to remake it. Even after I mentioned they might have put the wrong slice in, I was quickly shut down when I raised the concern. Then, after attempting to fix it, the wrong pizza still came out, which was pretty aggravating. We’ve seen the same manager there for five years, so poor service seems to be part of the established work culture.

Sals is definitely the best pizza in KC. Great hardworking family dedicated to the best product. Never had a sub par pizza. Calzones are also excellent. Love me some Sals pizza!!

My girlfriend told me she used to come here a lot when she was younger, so we ordered a slice of Pepperoni Pizza and it was fantastic. The pizza was hot, fresh, and had amazing flavor. The customer service was good as the staff was friendly and respectful. We waited about 3 to 4 minutes with the slice, and overall I was pleased with the experience. I definitely plan on coming back.

The pizza didn’t have flavor. The pizza tastes close to store bought. Texture was dry. The pizza wasn’t nasty. It just didn’t taste good. Nice size portion for pepperoni slice.

This pizza place RIPPED my friend off. First I had to give him a card with what he wanted on it, because he cannot speak good English. He came back with a receipt and for 2 pizza was 14 dollars. Mind you, one slice is 4 dollars and some change, so being the good friend I am i went up there and asked about it, fist asking how much two pizza’s would be, in which he said about 9 dollars. THEN when i mentioned all of that he proceeded to lie and tell me that he also ordered a large Dr Pepper when in fact he didn’t, he doesn’t even drink sodas.

Love this pizza! We stopped by Sal’s on 7/9/24 at 12pm. The guys were excellent, very focused on customers and their work! Love how they put the slice in the oven to make it all bubbly and not just a slice straight from warming lights!
The thin crust is crispy on the bottom and soft on top! Hand made perfection guys!

Always had great pizza from this location until tonight. Pizza arrived, opened the box, it looked like two different pizza’s. One half was burned. Pizza looked as though it had been under a heat lamp for several hours, with the cheese settled in and the sauce starting to soak into the dough. That’s not a fresh pizza, it was as though it was two partials being used originally for single slice sale and they combined them to make my order. If that’s the case, that’s unacceptable. I’ve been a repeat customer for some time, but may never order again.
