This place was very nice in the Charlottesville downtown mall. We sat outside as the sun went down and it wasn’t too hot even in July. We got the garlic bread and house salad for appetizers and both were delicious. The pepperoni pizza was also quite good though I will likely try something else if I go back.

We had an amazing experience here while celebrating a bachelorette trip with a group of 7. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, the service was exceptional, and every dish we ordered was delicious. The staff made us feel genuinely welcomed, which made the night even more special. Highly recommend for groups looking for great food and a comfortable, inviting environment. Thank y’all so much!!

Discovered the restaurant while wandering by Downton Mall, they have outdoor and indoor dining options. It was a little crowded outside so I preferred going inside. The decor feels traditional and convivial.
I was “craving” for mussels and passed by by chance so I gave it a try. I had the mussels marinara and a tiramisu. The tiramisu was not too sweet, perfect for me.

Found the simplest and tastiest Caesar salad there, food was absolutely delicious. Service was great too.

Fantastic restaurant in downtown Charlottesville. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating under the trees next to Paramount theatre. Great place for people watching- it just happened to be prom so there was a constant parade of well dressed young people in their glitterati. There was a fabulous violin player who played wonderful music with his boombox which made the ambiance even better. Great sale of beer & other drinks. Highly recommended.

Great food and ambience and drinks!
We got served by Teddy and his service was exemplary! He was the best waiter/bartender I had in the area. It was was his first week and his service and drinks were top notch! Ask for him when you go to Sal’s!

Excellent, excellent Italian food in Charlottesville, VA! We dined on New Years Eve and were fortunate to be seated without a reservation. The staff were SO friendly and there were plenty of options for both vegetarians and meat-lovers. Many of the dishes are customizable with your favorite protein. The happy hour was also a great addition to a fun evening. We cannot wait to return and try a new dish!

This place is a gem!!! We had a girls night out for our friends 40th bday and they treated us like royalty!! It was a beautiful night and we had the best service and drinks. Our hostess/manager Joellen was so sweet and attentive and our server Sam was the best! We will be back for sure!! Thank you for a great evening out on the town!

Me and my spouse ate here for our Valentine’s Day dinner and the food was good, but the price is just far too high for what we got. A bruschetta appetizer, 2 wine glasses, a small pizza and a chicken parmigiana entree and our bill was $122 dollars.

We aren’t from Charlottesville so we didn’t know it was that expensive before coming to this restaurant, but I just don’t understand why people here are paying that kind of price for Italian food.

My husband & I went to Sal’s with our little ones after visiting the Discovery Museum. Our waiter was nice, very accommodating. I chose a pasta dish with their “pink lady” sauce after the waiter recommended it. Both of our pasta dishes were very bland, barely any flavor at all. We tried everything, salt and pepper, Parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes. Nothing made them taste better. The chicken in the pasta looked like chicken from a frozen dinner. You could tell that it wasn’t fresh chicken. Our kids got the cheese pizza, which they enjoyed. We paid $20 just for our soft drinks and our bill was over $100 for two pasta dishes that were horrible and a decent pizza. We wanted to give this place a try but we will continue going to Vivace for Italian. Even Olive Garden is better than Sal’s. Don’t waste your money.
