We visited the restaurant on a Saturday around 3:30 p.m., drawn in by the appealing atmosphere and unique building design. The large windows and elevated bar area gave the place a cool “urban cantina” or dockside vibe. The potential for a great experience was definitely there.

Unfortunately, the poor management and service completely overshadowed the inviting atmosphere. The issues began from the moment we sat down.

We decided to have a seat at the bar, it quickly became clear that the bartender was not an experienced waitress. We waited an unusually long time for everything, including basics like chips, salsa, silverware, and napkins, which arrived long after our drinks. (They weren’t busy at all. No one else was seated in the bar area and the rest of the restaurant maybe had 4 tables)

My margarita, “Perfect Margarita”, was not made as described on the menu, very disappointing. Also, the glass was too large, resulting in a drink that was mostly sugary mixer with very little liquor. I couldn’t even finish it. NOT THE PERFECT MARGARITA!

The food was even worse. My “Shrimp Vera Cruz” (menu description and photos of what was served below) was a COMPLETE FAILURE! Instead of being topped with the advertised cheese sauce, it was buried under a thick, greasy layer of melted cheddar cheese. The cheese was melted for so long that it cooked the rice underneath, making it crunchy. And the grease cooked out of the cheese and flooded the rice beneath. The shrimp was incredibly salty! It was covered in a heavy, overly salty seasoning that had no flavor. Don’t let the green garnish fool you, I ADDED THAT! It helped the appearance, but no amount of garnish can help with the amount of salt and grease!

My friend ordered the steak street taco’s. Why wouldn’t we? The place has the SELF PROCLAIMED ** WORLD’S BEST TACO’S**
HOWEVER, They were in fact the WORST street taco’s either of us had ever had. Onions and cilantro weren’t diced finely enough. Meat was grissely, greasy and tough. Tortillas were over sized vs. the meat/veg portions. Tortillas were thick and cold, not steamed or grilled at all. Even Salas’s own provided picture of tacos when you Google them shows what I’m talking about with the tortillas. AND WHAT’S WITH THE VINEGAR??? Good tacos don’t need vinegar!! Smh!

The free queso had a strange, gelatinous texture and the chips were too thin to handle a dip without breaking.

While our waitress was polite and did try to take care of us, the service was disorganized and the quality of the food was unacceptable.

This restaurant has a fantastic location and building (though in ill repair, has potential), but it’s clear there are significant issues with management, food quality, and service. Without serious changes, I don’t see how they can succeed.

I spent about $90 in food. This is the Sopapilla cheese cake and the South West rolls I received. I called to notify the manager . Spoke to someone named Lane who claimed to be the manager. Nothing was done to resolve this issue. Very dissatisfied with the service. An issue that could have easily been resolved was disregarded.

First off our waitress did a great job , she checked with us often, was very friendly and pleasant . Answered questions about the menu, great customer service. Been a while seen eat ate here so thought we would try it again great atmosphere and building. Chips were good and Cheese sauce was good. The salsa is way too runny, not much taste , not good. Waitress brought food out in a timely manner. Plates were so hot that the refried beans and rice had turned into thick crust on the bottom side. Sticking to the plate. The enchilada was good , tamale was ok, but kinda burnt to the plate also. The tacos were good . I dont like to give bad or average reviews, but just being honest. As I said before our service (waitress) was great and did tip her accordingly for her work, but food did not match.

The waitress was great, the food not so much. The chips are very thin, the salsa and cheese sauce is runny and seems watered down. My nacho fries were ok. I would not recommend this place.

Worse Mexican I’ve ever had. Salsa and cheese dip was disgusting- super watery!
Chicken fajitas were floured and fried. Fajita salad came with raw, chopped celery and carrots, guac and tomatoes. Waiter didnt remove plates when finished. They played country music. Overall- horrible experience! Avoid this place at all costs.

The rice I had was dry. Seems like it was left out. The rest of my food tastes okay. I have had better at other Mexican restaurants. Our chips where out before we even had our food. The waitress was friendly but was slacking (to me-had faster services elsewhere when they were busy). May go back another time and see if the service is better along with the food. But not anytime soon.

Shelby was our server and she was great. Very friendly and hospitable. I would come back just to have her be my server!!

We ordered so much food and it was all pretty good. Make sure to save room for Sopapillas.

The margarita was excellent. The food not so much. I don’t think I would eat here again. There are too many other options around the area.

My son and daughter in law asked me where I wanted to go eat for my birthday 2/9. I chose Salas for their birria tacos. The worst decision I ever made. The birria tacos hardly had meat in them. The tortillas were hard. The beans tasted like they were canned beans. My daughter in law wasn’t even done with her plate and the waitress took her plate without even asking. All of our rice was extremely dry and hard. My granddaughters cheeseburger was so hard she couldn’t even eat it. It was like they cooked it in the microwave too long. I told a manager about it and he didn’t seem to care. He just wrote down my name & number and said he would talk to the waitress. I will not be returning here and I will tell all of my family not to eat here either.

The chips we not only delicious, they were served with queso, salsa…both were delicious as well. We shared a fajita dinner which was plenty of food for two people. Our server was attentive, keeping our drinks filled, refilled our chips and salsa, cheese dip as soon as we asked.
