Enjoy The Traditional Arabic and Yemeni in Salam Restaurant Yemeni cuisine is entirely distinct from the more widely known Middle Eastern cuisines and even differs slightly from region to region. Typical Yemeni dishes, that resemble stews and are eaten with bread, are cooked in traditional black, stone pots (called Madara) that have age and character. Famous stew dishes include Salta, fahsa, and odgat. Yemeni cuisine also includes mandi, which are the huge rice dishes with meat on top. Yemeni desserts are also very unique and heavy with dates, bananas, bread, honey, cheese, and cream.

Stopped by to pick up fresh food and pita. The shop owner was blocking the entrance, yelling at (assumingly) his children for spilling water and causing a bunch of commotion. The store was bare bones. In the fresh food area they were doing construction work on the ceiling, everything was closed off. The vibe was unfriendly and unclean. Wouldn’t return, despite my belief in supporting local shops.

Its a Mediterranean shop/Halal restaurant which have majority of mediterranean grocery items and little of Pakistani/indian grocery. I stopped here for food and surprisingly its mouth watering. I tried Chicken Shawarma wrap, Shishtoak and Philly Steak wrap beef & lamb. All were yummy (specially wraps) and had good serving size. Giving 4 stars for food. Must give it a try specially if you are bored of having same Desi food everytime.

Very small store that makes the most out of its small area. I looked it up after going to a movie at Jack London Square.
I like that they had a lot of various merchandise, groceries, and a restaurant all in this building.

when asked cashier that it looks burned he agreed with me but the cook was was disrespectful towards me and started arguing. He said that inside is still good and refused to make another one… on of the worst cook attitude I have ever seen… the ship is great but they need to replace the cook period..

Took longer than I wanted, but I’m more impatient than most people and my falafel wrap was definitely definitely definitely worth the wait. Everyone who works there and the regulars are outstanding folks. Very lively shop and if you need something they don’t carry, they’ll probably get it for you for the next time you come in. Keep this local business alive, folks.

Amazing food, 10/10. Called in for takeout. The hummus, falafel, and baba ghanoush were all the real deal. First time trying Yemeni shakshouka and it’s incredible (it’s more of an egg scramble).

We were two families tonight at Salam Halal market. Spent $110 for 7 people. The quality of the food was great. Chicken taste was very good. We had falafel that was good too.

If you go there you will be happy of the quality of the food.

Very high quality food. You can tell how much care and love was put into their food. Not only is it good food, but the food is used as a window to view modern Yemeni culture. At the store you get access to many middle eastern and North American ingredients. They have all the snacks you love. The customer service is on point. The worker actually enjoy their work. What I feel is the best thing about the store is the friendly environment. You walk in and you smell delicious food. You will always see some kids walking, joking around, and laughing in the store. You always see a couple of Arabs sitting down, eating, and making jokes. The cashier is always telling jokes. The entire atmosphere has such a positive vibe. Sometimes I go in the store and I don’t buy anything. I just like standing there because how positive the place.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6 Star Store
