Loved loved the big eggplant sandwich, enough that I might even dream about it-the pickles were a yummy touch. I got the feeling an experienced grill cook. Mainly a small to go market w some inside booths but not being used when I was there. Baklava was huge and nicely crafted. Call ahead. Some good food coming out of Salaam!

The Market side is 5 stars. Worth the visit if you are seeking the products they sell. I’m a fan of sour cherry juice and the pita bread I purchased is great. There is a good selection of spices and other products for fans of Mediterranean flavor profiles. The Cafe side, however, is not recommended. The hummus was bland and tasted old, no hint of lemon or garlic. The tabouleh was not good. It wasn’t even green anymore it was so old; the parsley and mint had lost all color. The Lamb shawarma was just okay. Since I didn’t smell any meat cooking, I’m guessing we were served leftovers from the weekend. The baklava serving was large. We took home some spanakopita, but after heating it as directed, took a bite and tossed it. It’s unfortunate that my experience on the cafe side did not match the other reviews listed.

Excellent food. The taste of chicken kebabs, lamb gyro and any other food we tasted here is outstanding. Their style is authentic. The cook cum owner of the restaurant is very friendly. He will offer all varieties on the menu for tasting. That helped me decide what I would like to eat. Prices are just a little on the high side. The sides would’ve tasted better if served hot. If asked, the owner is heating them up for us. Ambience and cleanliness can be improved. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I smelled strong cigarette smoke- that thing is a total no no for me. If that was not there, I would love to visit this place frequently for its amazing food.

Great market! Came here on the recommendation of a local store. The service was very friendly. I ordered the gyro combo with fries and a drink and when I said it was my first time the owner offered a sample of the fresh made hummus. It was very smooth and something I will get if I am ever back in the area. Big portions and a great meal!

I have tried this restaurant couple of time now. Food is amazing. So tasty. Fresh salads are the best. Pies also really really good. If you are a baklava lover, try their date baklava. One of the best baklava I have ever tried (I have tried almost every single place with baklava in richmond).
Fresh pasta salads are super refreshing. Flavors balances out very well.
Owner is also super nice and easy to talk with. My major concern is with pricing. The prices are not mentioned properly outside or there is no menu with prices. Every time I go, they charge me different prices. Compared to other places, this place is very pricy. If you get two small salads, two pies and two baklavas, then your bill will very between 60-75. It’s true that this place has tasty food. But its absolutely not worth for the price you are paying if you consider other factors. You can buy a rack of ribs for lesser price than here compare to non-protein salad from this place. So, summery: SO TASTY, TOO EXPENSIVE.

I stopped in looking for kadaifi, it’s a pastry that I needed for this viral chocolate my teenager asked me to make. Huge pain in my arse b/c I had already been to Lotte & GranMart looking for it to no avail. I asked the new owner; Pehlo, at 2M & he also did not have it in stock, BUT…get this, he actually called a friend at a neighboring store & had it delivered to me at his store. It was raining & I was so freaking impressed with him & his hospitality. He went completely out of his way to make sure I was taken care of. While I waited I decided to order a chicken tawook & subbed it with lamb. Oh.My.Allah it was amazing! The lamb was by far the best I have had in Richmond. Not to mention the bread was fresh & the portion size was huge! I actually intended to save half for my husband, but devoured the entire thing (in my car ) before I got home & just hid the evidence from him.
What’s great about this store/restaurant is that not only is the customer service superior as well as the food & quantity, but it’s a diamond in the rough. You feel like you have found a hidden gem when you walk in. Take my advice….go in, ask questions about the menu if you’re not familiar with Mediterranean food & just enjoy the experience.

BEST Mediterranean Market & Deli in Richmond!!!! You can find everything that you are craving for in this hidden gem. Bosnian native, professionally trained in Italian cuisine in France, Adis puts his personal touch in every dish. I love everything made by him! Stop by and pickup a few pre-made salads by the pound. I think he makes the best Tabouli Salad and Chicken Salad. We had the Chicken Salad with the Pita Bread and Flat Bread that we bought there for many meals. Hummus was fresh and creamy, you can eat it by the spoonful. Lamb Gyro was so delicious, filled with lots meat. The market also offers high quality olive oil and variety of cheeses that you wouldn’t be able to find them elsewhere. Almost forgot, we also love the all the pies that Adis made. Spinach Pies, Cheese Pies, Spinach & Cheese Pies, and Meat Pies. The meat in Meat Pie was seasoned perfectly. Hope I have gotten your attention and interest by now.

Awesome Mediterranean deli and grocery. Very friendly owner who welcomed me to his store insisted I try samples of all of his salads and bakery items. I came for lunch and left with a huge shawarma in pita sandwich. Also I couldn’t help but to try some of there grocery items. The best was fresh pitas, we had them for dinner three nights in a row with some marinated pork. Would highly recommend you to stop in for lunch or to pick up items for home use. I definitely will be coming again just for the fresh pitas.
