The name Sakura in Japanese means cherry blossom but the interior is painted in a heavy, burgundy red that casts a somber, dark mood in the proceedings. The extensive menu revealed that the chef has expanded his offerings to include China, and other places in the Far East. I find that always a sign Japanese cuisine is not going to be at its authentic self.
The Chirashi don (sashimi over rice) was a case in point- the rice was undercooked – and when I told my server politely to tell the chef that the rice ‘was a little hard’ all she did was to use my phrase to reproduce an echo, and went back to her station by the front. I repeated the same complaint to the second server, and the result was the same -parrot my phrase – join her coworker up front and continue their phone scrolling fest.
The miso soup was tepid. The green tea came in a plastic cup smaller than a regular one.
On the plus side the place was squeaky clean, the fish cuts were fresh and tasty and the service in spite of turning a deaf ear was prompt.
But the hard rice sank my faux Japanese lunch.
Lunch specials as well
I saw people eating here solo as well as with a friend. I’d recommend this place for families as well. It has a great atmosphere although their restroom could be upgraded a little. But I’m excited to go back and try more food on their menu.
The combos are a great deal and give a lot of food! Crab Rangoon was more cream cheese forward than crab. Order a roll with mango in it they put the perfect amount and it tastes fresh and sweet.
The napkins are cool bc they got pockets for your chopsticks.

Soup dumplings, crab Rangoon, the sauce that came with the crab Rangoon and the maki exceeded my expectations and I will be coming back here whenever possible.
Highly recommend all their hot apps – especially the karaage. Drinks here are also tasty and affordable
