Decent, but far from life-changing, this neighborhood Vietnamese will satisfy a fix in an area with such few Southeast Asian options.

Bun Bo Danang, a less lemongrass spicy version of its distant Hue cousin. Clean broth, but not much more to say.

The old lady chef-operator is darling sweet. Ample outdoor seating.

Fantastic Duck Bahn Mi! Damn the duck was good, and the bread was perfect vehicle for this format. Owner is very nice 🙂 I want to return and try the Canton clay pot special. Note: on my scale, her “spicy” was about my medium

My favorite food is pho, and I’ve tried many pho places. As usual, I got a pho today, and I didn’t like it at all. The broth just tasted like water, and few drops of fish sauce? I couldn’t believe I paid 18 bucks for this. I have not tried other dish so I cannot say for those, but I wouldn’t come here for pho. It felt like a waste of money for sure.

I came here , with my dog ( 30 lbs mixed boarder collie ) for lunch today at 130pm. Made my order and paid for a bowl of vermicelli pho, with the beef. Proceeded to sit down with my dog and waited for my food. While waiting, another pair of folks came in and made their order.

I got my food and half way through my meal, the owner ( she’s the only one that is there all the time ) decided at that time to tell me that I can’t have my dog inside the restaurant. I told her that you saw me come in here with her and you didn’t say anything at that moment. I followed up with , ” I’m almost done with my meal and will be leaving soon ” ( in a calm tone ). Three minutes later, she comes at me , was very rude and tells me to go outside….and continued to be unprofessional about the situation. I had a quarter of my meal left before I decided to get up and leave, with me telling her how she has lost a costumer due this situation.

Mind you, I live within the area for over 15 yrs and have supported her business since it opened. In the past, I’ve brought my dog before and she’s familiar with us and we never had an issues before. I am very taken back by the attitude on how she approached us today. It wasn’t necessary for her to be rude and pressured me out of the restaurant, with my meal not even finished.

Had she approached us with calm and professionalism , I wouldn’t have written this review. I think she should think about taking a customer service 101 class.

I’m lucky to live close to this super cute and quiet corner spot with big windows that make you feel like part of the neighborhood. I tend toward vegetarian but I recently treated myself to the vermicelli with duck and I’m glad I did. My friend’s duck banh mi was good too: tasty moist/crispy duck with good proportions on a fresh toasty roll. The owner is sweet and attentive and clearly cares about the food and your experience.

One of the authentic Vietnamese restaurants in SF.
The dish generally seemed to be prepared with clean and delicate flavors, minimally used artificial seasoning.
Even the peanuts in the sauce tasted good as if they were just roasted, and the broth of pho was neat, not heavy, with a subtle blend of various flavors.
The restaurant chef/owner made small talks kindly sharing stories about herself and we had a good time thanks to her.

I ordered the grilled pork Vermicelli and couldn’t be any more disappointed. The owner tried to trick me to tell me what I got wsd grilled pork, but it was actually cold pulled pork (look at my picture and you decide). Food quantity was dismal and only filled up half the take-out box. Flavor was bland, pork was cold, no Bueno!

For the price, this is the most sad vietnamese meal we have ever had!

We Ordered beef pho, duck sandwhich & shrimp spring rolls. Pho broth definitely 101% tasted like bland chicken both with 2 small pieces of cilantro.

Sandwhich was with overly dried microwaved duck pieces, no pickled carrots or radish or herbs, just lettuce onion and another 2 pieces of cilantro

The spring roll was the same thing, no herbs, just lettuce and 2 pieces of half sliced shrimp

The flavor profile of the food here is super unique, not your typical North American Vietnamese food. Probably because they use fresher ingredients and less MSG IMO. 🙂

I got the kimchi pork belly bahn mi. It was very lovely. Generous pork belly, cilantro, pickled radish and a pat of margarine to seal the deal. The owner proprietor is a solo act and makes everything with love. My boy got the noodle soup and asked for hoisin sauce, but he didn’t need it because the soup was so flavourful!
