Food was pretty good! Especially the Hustler Roll. Service was great everyone from the hostess, to the server, and the food runners, bussers. Food was okay but it took SO LONG. I don’t understand why. Dishes were coming out one by one which was expected but the dishes would be cleared and we would be waiting for the next dish to drop. Restaurant is small and not every seat was filled so I’m confused as to why food from the sushi bar and from the kitchen took so long. Our kids didn’t get their cucumber and avocado rolls til the end of the meal and that was their dinner. We needed to leave they couldn’t sit that long. Fix that and this will be great again. It used to be our favorite.

Food was well prepared and fresh, although not outstanding. The service was very good and attentive to a shellfish allergy in the group. The Vegetable Tempura and the Hustler Roll were my two favorites. The desserts were also pretty good and I would recommend the Yuzu Meringue Tart, which is a little out of the box.

We sat at the sushi bar and it was fabulous. The chef was engaging and made delicious sushi. He overheard about our birthdays and offered us a dessert in celebration. We chose the matcha coconut ice cream. Delectable dinner with hospitable hosts.

During our stay at the Alyeska Resort, we gratefully decided to dine at Sakura Asian Bistro. Thank goodness we did! It was just spectacular! Our server Clinton made it even more amazing, with his attentive and exemplary service. The Dynamite roll was the BEST and the Crab hand roll was just as delicious. The Ramen and the Spicy Rock Shrimp were out of this word! I wish we lived closer. I’d go everyday. Thank you Alaska for this gem.

My family came here last Fall when my mother and sister were in town visiting us. We were waiting for this restaurant to open for the evening so we got seated right away. It is a smaller restaurant but tastefully decorated. There is a small bar area you can see the chef making sushi. Everything was delicious from the drinks, appetizer, sushi, ramen and dessert. The flourless chocolate cake was beautifully presented. Sunomono salad with octopus was tasty and flavorful. We also got the Crispy Rice Spicy tuna appetizer; good portion…delicious. Albacore & Onion; another delicious dish. We liked everything we had ordered and ate. All the sushi was very fresh. Would recommend and will come back.

I’ve been trying to eat at Sakura for the better part of 3 years but my schedule never aligned with their hours of operation. This latest trip to Alyeska finally yielded some fruit and we were able to dine here. I loved the ambiance and the service was exceptional! Our waiter knew the menu inside and out and even recommended an entree for our 3 year old that wasn’t on the menu. I got an Alaska Lager that paired well with my King Salmon Sashimi. I also loved the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Alyeska Roll! The quality of the ingredients was excellent. We spent over $200 on a party of 6 which wasn’t that expensive. Our experience here was definitely worth the wait. We look forward to the next time we can dine here. Thanks Sakura for an amazing meal!

One bowel of ramen followed by 40 minutes staring at empty table with no service check ins, eg ignored by staff, just to finally get 3 rolls, wasn’t even busy at that time. Sushi fine but nothing special, too tired to even care by the time it came esp after a 90 minute wait to get a table. Terrible atmosphere, loud and cramped, elbow to elbow at same table with other diners. Staff don’t ask if you’re done just grab your plate mid bite and bring your check while you’re still swallowing. Just a mess of a restaurant, embarrassing for what’s supposed to be fine dining at this hotel.

This is a really beautiful restaurant in Aleyaska Resort. We are here back in 2019 and decided to return as I was craving sushi. The menu seems to have changed a bit, and I would say it’s still averaging $30 per person if you’re doing 2 entrees and either alcoholic beverages or tea.
The host seated us promptly and our server was timely in service, in relation to basically being the server for the entire seating area (!).
The seating seems to try to encourage mingling, as there’s a very long island/bar where most guests are seated. It’s interesting because PNW people are notoriously introverted but that said, the table is pretty so I can’t complain.
We watched the sushi chef at the bar preparing orders and serving those who sat at the bar. He seemed nice.
Overall, the food was good. The karrage had a little flour still on it but tasted good and was cooked to order, the okonomiyaki was delicious. The nigiri was cut in a way that there was either some muscle or skin so biting it had a little extra chew …like a little tougher but I opted to not say anything. Otherwise, it was very fresh.
And finally, when you order tea you get a pot and sand timer to enjoy it at it’s best flavor, and we paired that with yuzu meringue pie which was the highlight of the evening–so beautifully plated and tasty!

This is our favorite restaurant so far in Girdwood. Other restaurants are nice, but this is the best in my opinion. I don’t expect good sushi in Alaska as I live in San Diego and lived in NYC before, we have a lot of great Japanese foods there. But this is surprisingly good as a restaurant in a resort. I highly recommend Combo boat if you like sushi, the ramen is amazing if you love ramen. All the other dishes we ordered are all successful. You should give this place a try!

So good that we had dinner two nights during our stay. Sushi was great and the service at the Sushi bar was exceptional. The restaurant is so popular that there is a line to get in about 30 minutes before it opens.
