The food was not good, I had the sesame chicken it was over cooked so the chicken was dry and there was enough sauce to make 3 plates. The chicken pieces were huge had to ask for a knife so a good amount of chicken. The rice and broccoli had no flavor. The mushroom soup was basically beef stock with green onions sprinkled in it I only had one mushroom slice in the whole bowl, my mom only had half a mushroom in hers. Smh mushroom are inexpensive they could do better. My mom had tempura fried shrimp and vegetables it had no seasoning in the batter and they didn’t even put salt or pepper on the vegetables before battering them. The waitress was very kind and did a great job though.

Wow! First visit, impressed
The gyoza was really good, of course. I also had the Tom Yum soup (forgot to take a photo). It was FRIGGIN DELICIOUS! …chocked full of carrots, cabbage and onions, and several shrimp, in a spicy light tomato broth.
I had the Chirashi plate had plenty of sushi, great value.
The staff was cool, and the Sapporo was cold.
I’m definitely coming back.

I happen to be in Livingston, Texas looking for a sushi restaurant. Sakura was the only one on the menu. I went there and the place blew me away. The owner makes you feel like family there. The food is fantastic. Perfect temperature. If you know anything about sushi? It’s gotta be the perfect temperature to taste right , and they had every burst of flavor come out in that fish some of the best sushi I’ve ever eaten. Being from New Orleans, we know food and this is some good food!!

There were five of us and we had a very enjoyable time, our friends had made reservations and we were greeted warmly when we arrived. They do not serve coffee but they were fine with our bringing our own, also the serve Pepsi and we preferred Coke, they were gracious about allowing us to bring that as well. Service was excellent, our orders were taken and it wasn’t long until our food was ready, although they brought out one serving at a time. We were all happy with our food, we were guests of our friends so I don’t know what the total was, my vegetable tempura was around $16.00 I think. You should try them when in Livingston!

Food here is great. The service could have been better. Three of the people that worked here including our server talked in a group way too long. Maybe do this out of view of your customers. Then not allow your servers to participate at all. Give the place a try. The price is in line with other eateries.

If you’ve ever been to Takara in Cleveland, TX, this place is basically the same thing, but smaller.
They have hibachi without the show, sushi, soups, and tempura. The staff were nice, the place was clean, and our food was served quickly.
There are tables squished into the main part of the restaurant (not enough room for a wheelchair), and booths on the back wall. Decor was an afterthought, and there are TV’s to watch while you wait for your order.
We were seated immediately, but must have made it right before the rush, because there were at least two parties standing at the door at all times thereafter. I felt badly for them, because there was nowhere to sit to wait for a table.
The food was good and the portions were acceptable for the prices. We got sushi and hibachi (steak and shrimp). The steak and shrimp were overcooked, but seasoned well and not dry. We tried peach sake and it tasted like perfume, so I don’t recommend it (the lychee is better). Overall, we were really pleased to have an Asian kitchen like this in Livingston and will be back!
Pro tip: the door to the bathrooms looks like it would be for a single stall situation, but there’s actually a hallway behind it with men’s and women’s bathrooms.

I have to be honest…I thought “How good can sushi be in Livingston, TX? BBQ and Mexican food are one thing, but sushi? No way.” Boy was I wrong!
The place was packed with people and the inside waiting area was filling up. Since we were hungry, we decided to sit at the bar. There, we watched them hand make all the rolls and other orders. It was nice to see that they hand cut the fish rather than reach into a container of precut stuff.
I ordered the Green Devil, my wife ordered the Philadelphia and we shared the Sakura. All of the rolls were amazingly fresh and seemingly melt in your mouth. I’ve never had sushi that was this good and I’ve been to a gazillion places in and around Houston. We will definitely be coming back!
