In addition to the sushi roll, I also ordered a combo hibachi plate, filet mignon and shrimp. The combo comes with soup and salad. The soup was subpar, with only one tiny sliver of mushroom in it. It was hot, that’s about all I can positively say about it. The “salad” was a ton of lettuce with one tiny cherry tomato and two tiny slivers of cucumber.
As for the filet mignon and shrimp. What the waitress brought out was NOT filet mignon. It was the same steak that my dining companion had ordered (they had the steak, chicken, and shrimp hibachi combo). I had ordered the filet medium, it was well done and charred. I think they were hoping I wouldn’t notice the difference between the “steak” and the “filet mignon,” as they buried my companions pieces of steak under chicken. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she tried to convince me that my steak was bigger than my dining companions steak. It was not. It was the same flat, tiny pieces.
After I pointed that out, the waitress offered to take my dish back and fix the issue. When my dish finally came back the rest of my food was cold. I had a few slightly larger pieces of “filet”on the plate, the other tiny pieces of steak had been picked off. The carrots had no flavor, and neither did the fried rice. The food was bland as all get out. And the shrimp? Only 6 pieces of size small shrimp… with the few pieces of steak. Not a great deal, especially for what they’re charging.
The dipping sauces were watered down, too. They were a VERY faint, almost invisible, imitation of what mustard and ginger sauce are supposed to look and taste like.
For what I paid for the dinner (almost $80), I should have gone to Winston to go to one of the Japanese steakhouses. At least the food is guaranteed to be flavorful, and you get live entertainment!
I will not be back to Saki in the future. I hope they take the bad reviews to heart, and improve the quality of the food.
