I had an exceptional experience during dine-in in this cozy japanese sushi restaurant. I ordered Sakana tasting platter. The servings were delicious, delicate, easy to take, and worth the order. Portions are great. Price is reasonable. Texture is wonderful. I am grateful for their meal presentation, very pleasing to the eyes, deliciously tasting, and worth the experience. Sake is great too. Dessert is served at the end of the platter. My family ordered various a la carte menu which includes braissed pork belly, miso soup, and grilled mackerel, aburi salmon don. Location is near the hamilton go station. Parking is available but filled up quickly. Street paid parking is also available. Indoor dining ambience was cozy, comfortable for conversations, and gets busy when full. Service was great. I highly recommend this for high quality sushis and great service.

A truly wonderful experience. I loved the kaisen don, which allowed me to try different sashimi dishes. The price was definitely worth the portion size. The full size Blowtorched Maccherel was more than I expected. I like the combination with yuzu vinegar. I’m so glad Hamilton now has such a great sushi restaurant; it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. If there’s anything that could be better, it’s the decor. Considering it’s still in soft opening, I’m sure it will improve with time. I look forward to trying it again.

Walked into this cozy little Japanese restaurant after a long day at work. By taking the wrong bus, I ended up at this hidden gem – thank you for turning a mistake into a delight!
The Kaisendon was rich and satisfying with a good variety of seafood. The portion was just right for my late dinner, and the quality would make me bring a bigger appetite next time to try more from the menu.
I felt like having umeshu but didn’t want to hop on the bus red-faced, so their non-alcohols were great choices. The Takowasa was also good, a perfect side with drinks.
Very reasonable prices, a nice atmosphere, and friendly, welcoming staff. I only found out before leaving that tomorrow is their grand opening – congratulations and wishing you great success! Looking forward to coming back soon. ☺️

My girlfriend and I went here and we both love it so much. Great to have a place that is a la carte for sushi. The fish was high quality and every piece of fish was delicious. We got the Neggitoro Don, Salmon Don and the Sakana Sashimi.
Probably the best place to get high quality sushi in Hamilton. I would highly anyone that wants to try good sushi as you can taste quality in their food.
Also the Bluefin Tuna melts in your mouth. I am surprised we have something like this in Hamilton. We will be coming back here again.

This place is amazing!! My boyfriend and I got the Salmon Aburi Don, Negitoro Don, and Sakana Sashimi, I would definitely recommend all of these dishes. Everything tasted amazing and fresh, probably the best sushi I have had in Hamilton. The quality was amazing and the prices were fair for what you are getting. Will definitely be returning. 10/10 you should go here.

Finally got to try the lunch here and I was so impressed! The food was fantastic and the service lovely. I cannot wait to go again, especially to try the dinner. I had the sushi combo and the fish was fresh and buttery. I feel like the amount of food was perfect for lunch and I love that you can add a hand roll or miso if you need a little extra!

This was our first time at Sakana and it was wonderful! The fish quality was excellent and the service was quick and attentive. We ordered the kaisen don, Aburi don, and some negitoro and salmon maki. The bluefin tuna and the scallops in the kaisen don were amazing! I love the intimate ambiance and the premium sushi.

My girlfriend and I are a big fan of Menya Kyu so we wanted to try out the owners new sushi restaurant. It was so well executed and the quality was amazing as expected from these owners! We have been looking for good sushi in Hamilton to little avail, and are so happy that we finally have a spot to go to for great sushi. Thank you!!!

The portion for the donburi is quite small — the rice only forms a really thin layer, and it’s hard to taste any of the sushi rice vinegar. The rice itself is also a bit hard.
The Hamilton Day Set is good; I love how they include fish that most sushi restaurants in Hamilton rarely offer. However, the sashimi’s fish flavor is quite subtle — either it was poorly cut or not fresh enough, and a few pieces were loose and fell apart. Also, they seem a bit tight-fisted with the soy sauce — the little cup was only about one-quarter full.
But still, the fish didn’t have any fishy smell, it’s fresh and clean, one of the top in Hamilton for sure. Since this is only the soft opening, I really hope they’ll do better.

Just went for the soft opening tonight and Sakana didn’t disappoint. The most authentic and delicious sushi on this side of the pacific. Spicy salmon was out of this world.
