Amazingly fresh fish & good portion sizes. Friendly & efficient service. Can easily accommodate large parties. Best day to visit is Friday and Saturday for special fish options. Excellent option for take-out & catering for large parties. Open every day for lunch & dinner except Tuesdays. Reasonably priced & excellent choices!

I keep coming back for the sushi, efficient service, and quiet atmosphere. Wendy is always pleasant and the place is barely occupied during weekdays. The green tea servings are more than enough and the sushi is consistently up to par. Prices are beyond reasonable – you can feed 2 for under $40.

If I want the premium sashimi (selection and freshness), Sanaka is always my top 1 pick! High quality of the food, fancy presentation of the sashimi, friendly and warm service. Friendly reminder, if you want the premium sashimi (not the regular salmon/tuna), please call them to confirm the availability first Of course, they always have the regular sashimi as well. There are always selection within your budget.

Ordered the lunch sushi combo and katsu curry set. The sushi came with some great shrimp, a good cut of salmon and their minimal use of rice in the roll kept you from filling up on it and being able to fully enjoy the fish. Curry was super aromatic, soft veggies and katsu panko coating was perfectly crispy. Great thickness of katsu. Rice was cooked well.

Cravings satisfied! We recently had the pleasure of trying the Bento Box and Sushi Platter and I was thoroughly impressed! The Bento Box was a delightful mix of fresh, flavorful dishes, with the perfect balance of savory chicken, perfectly seasoned rice, and a crisp, refreshing salad. The portion size was generous, and everything was beautifully arranged.

As for the Sushi Platter, it was simply fantastic! The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the fish melted in your mouth. Each piece was expertly prepared with vibrant colors, showcasing the chef’s attention to detail. It’s clear that quality ingredients and skillful preparation are at the heart of this place.

Overall, both the Bento Box and Sushi Platter were delicious, satisfying, and a great value for the price. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Lunch… Delicious bento boxes. Nice bowl of miso soup with a bean sprout salad to start. Crispy tempura batter with a tasty dipping sauce; Tasty lettuce salad but a tad too much of the tangy dressing for my tastebuds; Yummy tofu pieces; Fresh rice; Delicious sashimi, fresh and the pieces were sizeable. The battered chicken pieces were also delectable. Clean environment. Great service. Reasonable prices.

I recently visited Sakana Japanese cuisine sushi restaurant in Edmonton, and I was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the avocado roll, snapper roll, and California rolls, which were the largest and most filling options for my dinner. The total cost, including tip, was $65 for two people, and we left feeling completely satisfied.

The avocado roll was creamy and delicious, with fresh avocado wrapped in sushi rice and seaweed. The snapper roll was equally impressive, with grilled snapper adding a nice smoky flavor to the dish. But the California rolls were the real stars of the show – they were massive and packed with flavor, with a generous serving of sushi rice, avocado, cucumber, and crab meat.

Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience at Sakana Japanese cuisine sushi restaurant. The food was fresh, delicious, and filling, and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great sushi meal in Edmonton.

If you like high quality and special sashimi, Sakana is the perfect choice. They always have the special sashimi during weekends, but they are sold out fast. We always enjoy the well-presented sashimi prepared by chef Justin!

My 9 year old and I had a great experience here and were so happy to discover this little gem! A couple co workers recommended this place so I’ve been meaning to give it a try. We have been disappointed enough times by old favorites that have gone downhill over the years.
He had the salmon sashimi/sushi/chicken karagi bento which he thought was fantastic. We shared chop chop sushi, tuna tataki, and were amazed at the size of their signature roll. At first I was disappointed the salmon inside was cooked but it was very fresh and tasty cooked salmon. I would say that is one of the tastiest rolls I’ve ever had, and I would definitely order it again. Everything we tried was yummy.
The service was friendly and efficient. Atmosphere is average, nothing fancy.
