Saigon Vietnamese Cafe delivers standout service the server checked in to make sure my order was exactly what I wanted, which I appreciated.
I started with the fresh spring rolls, which tasted amazing. For the main course, I ordered the rare steak pho. It arrived with all the expected fixings: bean sprouts, fresh lime, basil, and rice noodles. I swapped the rice noodles for egg noodles, and that substitution worked well.
While the broth tasted good and clearly comes from a beef stock, I couldn’t shake that it lacked an authentic pho profile. My guess is it could be missing some key aromatics like star anise and a touch of seven-spice, which are characteristic of traditional pho. The broth feels like it’s been boiled from real beef, and the overall flavor is enjoyable, but it doesn’t deliver the classic pho experience.
Bottom line, great service and solid flavors, especially the fresh spring rolls. If you’re after an authentic pho, this place may not hit that exact note for you, but it’s a solid option for a flavorful, well executed bowl with good value. I’m giving it 3 stars.
