Very good pho. The pho broth was very flavorful even before I added the herbs. The noodles were all broken apart, but not too bad. We also tried the fried wings with fish sauce. It’s sweet, crunchy, and tasty, but the wings were kinda small.

I like limes in my pho, but they only had lemons (verified with server). I like chili oil to make my pho spicy, but they only had siracha and hoison sauce. I love adding a lot of spring onions and cilantro to my pho. There was not much cilantro on the herb platter and very little spring onions in the soup (count how many you see in my bowl). I get skimping on expensive meats, but why are so many pho places skimping on herbs that are relatively cheap. For southern style pho, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Delicious Vietnamese food! Authentic food, restaurant, and staff. Wife loved the Bún bò Huế. I had the grilled pork with rice, tender and flavorful.

This place is absolutely mind-blowing! The food is out of this world, and trust me, I’m picky. It’s some of the best Vietnamese I’ve ever had in the Bay Area, and the portions are massive, especially for the price. The owner is incredibly kind, and the service is top-notch. I’ll definitely be back!

This is the third time ordering the BBQ chicken pho takeout and let me tell you this is SOOOO GOOD! The broth has so much flavor, the chicken is well seasoned, tender and delicious. The portions are big! Here is a photo of my takeout at the beginning and then added more broth and still was a full plate! I can eat this for two meals lunch and dinner that’s how much it is. Love love this place and highly recommend their takeout!

Tucked into a competitive stretch of Vietnamese eateries in the Sunset District, *Saigon BBQ Noodle House* might not catch your eye at first glance. From the outside, it reads like your classic hole-in-the-wall—modest signage, no-frills exterior, and prices that whisper “budget-friendly.” But don’t be fooled. Step inside, and you’re met with a surprisingly renovated interior: clean lines, warm lighting, and tasteful murals that feel more like quiet homage than decorative filler.

The service? Impeccable. Our waiter was not only courteous but refreshingly attentive—asking thoughtful questions about allergens and ingredients (yes, even flagging the presence of pig’s blood in one dish, which we appreciated). It felt like care, not just compliance.

We ordered the **Bún Bò Huế** and the **Green Papaya Chicken Salad**, and both arrived in generous portions that could easily feed two. The meat was high-quality and plentiful, the vegetables crisp and vibrant, and the broth—deep, fragrant, and layered with flavor. This wasn’t just a meal; it was a quiet masterclass in balance and generosity.

A moment of communal foreshadowing: an older woman at a nearby table was absolutely *demolishing* a Vietnamese crêpe with the kind of gusto that makes you trust a stranger’s taste. We’ll be ordering that next time, no question.

In a neighborhood where options abound, *Saigon BBQ* doesn’t shout—it earns your loyalty with quiet excellence. We’re so glad we trusted our instincts and walked past the first place we saw. This one’s a keeper.

Updated review 4/4/2025: We wanted to do Saigon BBQ’s make-your-own rice wraps. We started with #9 shrimp salad $14 and a #12 crepe w/shrimp, pork, onions and bean sprouts $14. The make-your-own rice wraps we ordered were #69 woven rice vermicelli, bbq pork, beef, egg roll, prawns with vegetables $38 and #70 woven rice vermicelli, shrimp paste on sugar cane $39. The #70 grilled shrimp paste is an acquired taste. Our Caucasian friend didn’t like it. The #69 woven rice vermicelli with BBQ meats was pretty good. Each person gets their own fish sauce and peanut sauce. The meal was finished with a #63 seafood claypot $17. No complaints with the food. Service was excellent.

Original review: My review is based on their seafood crispy noodles $14. While the food tasted OK, I left the restaurant hungry. The crispy noodles only occupied the center diameter of the plate. For the size of this dish, they maybe should have put this under the appetizer section. It felt small to me. Service was fine. I ended up walking over to the fried chicken place a couple of blocks down to ease the hunger pains.

Saigon BBQ Noodle House is one of my favorite go-tos for Vietnamese in San Francisco. The pho has a rich, aromatic broth that hits the spot every time, and their garlic noodles are garlicky without being overwhelming. Portions are large ‒ you’ll definitely leave full. The banh mi has a soft chewy bread that complements all the fillings perfectly, and even the simpler dishes show freshness in the ingredients.
Service is warm and unpretentious — staff make you feel welcome immediately. The space is casual, which makes it nice for relaxed meals, but it can get busy and a little loud at peak times. Overall price is reasonable for the quality. Highly recommend if you want authentic Vietnamese without frills.
