Metro Detroit has amazing Middle Eastern Cuisine, my advice is to choose any restaurant before coming here!
The restaurant is pretty, but the service and hospitality do not exist! The restaurant is never busy, we had lunch today at 1:30 and we were the only people in the entire restaurant, and still received poor service.
Monday, on the Sahara Restaurant website, they listed from Hummus Mondays, when we asked the waitress, she said they have ended it. When I showed it to her on the website, she said they forgot to take it off!
My advice is to never eat at this restaurant!
Both my coworker not stop coming because of the horrible service, I took the pictures of the room to show that it was completely empty.
I love their response “Thank you for being a regular customer” lol, former customer. I will never step foot in this restaurant again, nor would I recommend anyone to dine here. Both my coworker and I have had diarrhea immediately after leaving the restaurant today, I will be contacting the Michigan Health Department. This place will close soon I predict.

Hands down the best restaurant in downtown Detroit. Exceptional Middle Eastern food in a fine-dining setting with a full bar. The quality across the menu is outstanding, especially the hummus, which is absolutely amazing. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and a special shoutout to the manager, Simon, for making the experience even better.

As soon as you walk in the place looks roomy, clean, and refreshing. I was immediately sat. Service was fast and efficient. They have happy hour deals. I had the steak bites and wings. The steak bites were in a sauce that was good but the steak had no seasoning on it. It was cooked well. The wings were the highlight for me. Seasoned well,taste fresh, and came out hot.

This was our first time at Sahara in Detroit and it was fabulous. We had Carolina as a waitress and she was amazing. The food was also some of the best we have had. I would definitely recommend the chicken cream chop and chicken shawarma dishes.

This place blew me away. The feta dip and hummus weren’t just good — they were hands-down some of the best I’ve ever had, creamy and packed with flavor. The vibe was perfect too: warm and cozy, and surprisingly peaceful for such a big dining room. I usually get overstimulated by noisy restaurants, but here I could actually relax and enjoy myself. Our server, Marvin, deserves a shout-out — he was attentive, genuinely kind, and made us feel like VIPs even though we only ordered a couple of dishes. If you find yourself in Detroit, do yourself a favor: skip the guesswork and eat here. You won’t regret it, I wasn’t even hungry and I ate everything!

I had my 40th birthday at this location, and everything was wonderful. The staff was great, the food was good, and the service was smooth from start to finish. I created a personalized menu for my guests that included Deboned Chicken, Chicken Shawarma, Alfredo, and Salmon. We also enjoyed salad and wine, and some guests ordered cocktails from the bar. Not one complaint – just a great night all a dining experience!! Also my party consisted of 35 guest!

Walked in after an event, restaurant was wide open despite it being dinner time. We were seated quickly and drink orders were taken. Food came fairly quickly, smaller portions for price. Waitress vanished after our food arrived and only came back once to bring our bill which seemed off. Once we requested an itemized bill, we noticed that the gratuity was already factored in. No where was it stated that this was customary in their establishment. Wouldn’t have been a problem if the level of service was on point. There may have been 3 or 4 tables with 3-5 guests at each. Watch your bill and plan to be on your own once food arrives. Plenty of staff just hanging around looking at their phones.

The food is delicious. This place is huge & always tend to be empty when I’m downtown. We stopped in after a high school graduation without reservations. They were able to accommodate 13 of us. The service was great, the food and drinks amazing. Highly recommend if downtown Detroit.
