You can get two loaded hotdog with french fries at Holly Jo’s in Boones Mill for example for 8.95… and that restaurant quality never seems to disappoint.
The overall cleanliness in the atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant and you can tell they keep a nice kitchen.
I will follow up in a further review when I come back and try something different on the menu as I cannot recommend the hot dogs, unfortunately.
Went out of our way to get to this place to finally try it out. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food and service are tremendous. The c-store attached to this restaurant has a bit of a Country Store charm to it, so it really does fit the whole Southern Diner experience. High end food choices at off-the-lake prices make it worth the drive no matter where you’re coming from. Three of us had more than we could eat, including beverage, for under $50. Everything, hot and cold, was prepared to perfection and served with a smile. Can’t wait to return!
They have a nice mix of country classics with modern touches like using Wagyu beef. Overall the entrees were great, although the meatloaf was a bit heavy with the ketchup. The sides were okay, mac and cheese could’ve used more seasoning. That said, I would make the drive again
After a long drive through backroads, we came upon the Valero station with a beautiful brand new storefront/restaurant. At this point, my husband was still a little weary. I hadn’t shared much with him other than “We’re going to a restaurant at a gas station that’s an hour away”
As soon as we walked in, we were impressed by the beautiful open kitchen and the friendly environment. Shortly after sitting down, our friendly server approached us and gave us menus. My husband was blown away by all of the options.
He ordered the Wagyu Hamburger Steak and I ordered the Franklin County Drunken Ribeye. Our friend opted for the Jacks Burger. We were all incredibly impressed with our choices. Although we were stuffed, we tried the banana pudding and skillet cookie. They were excellent as well.
If you’re looking for a hidden gem, this is it and it’s worth the drive. We can’t wait to return!
