I recently went to Sago and honestly loved the whole experience. The vibe was very tropical Tulum-inspired super cute, aesthetic, and perfect for a cute date, night out with girls or content spot!
We tried a few dishes and everything was so good:

The kimchi marble potatoes were crispy and flavorful with the cilantro, chimichurri, and chive crema (definitely one of my favorites). The cucumber salad was really fresh and light with a nice kick from the serrano and ponzu. We also had the hamachi ceviche, which tasted super fresh, and the Japanese fried chicken with chive kaluga caviar which was crispy, juicy, and just a really fun, unique dish.

The drinks were also super refreshing and slightly tropical, perfect with the food.

Overall, the atmosphere, presentation, and flavors were all on point. Such a cute Encinitas spot and I’ll definitely be back to try more.

Came to eat here for a friend’s birthday on a Wednesday night. Had an amazing time thanks to our amazing server, Lamar. He went above and beyond to make sure me and our party of 7 were comfortable and enjoying our meal. The place itself is gorgeous and the vibe is immaculate. The lighting and the decor is so elegant and sexy, and it’s a great place for photos. The food was good! Nothing was bad nor was anything exceptionally good, just good! No leftovers to take home as it is a tapas restaurant. It is a little pricey for the portion you get. I didn’t leave feeling full but had already spent a bit more than I’d like on food and drink. Otherwise, our server Lamar is the reason why I give this place 5 stars. Thank you, Lamar!

My boyfriend and I recently dined at Sago in Encinitas, and to say we loved our experience would be an understatement. From the food and cocktails to the hospitality and overall vibe, everything exceeded our expectations.

Our server, Jordyn, was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. She walked us through the menu and offered great recommendations. The menu is perfect for sharing, so we ordered several plates. One of my favorites was the Hamachi Ceviche, it was fresh and perfectly balanced. We also tried a few cocktails and genuinely loved every one.

I would recommend Sago to anyone looking for a great date night spot, a celebration dinner, or even a relaxed weeknight happy hour. We arrived around 5 pm, which was ideal for taking our time, and the space became more lively as the evening went on. The atmosphere was moody and fun, the price point felt fair, and I can’t wait to go back!!

This is THE vibe in Encinitas! The lush jungle-theme aesthetic is perfection on the main street.

I came when they first opened last year, and I thought the flavors were even better and portions more filling this time! They also revamped the new front bar area so it’s more open for bar seating and lounging.

Absolute favs are the soft shell crab (2 meaty pieces with rice and curry), lobster baos, and divine fried chicken and caviar. We loved everything we ordered plus the presentation was beautiful too.

This will be your favorite spot for an upscale date night or girl’s night out, with drinks, live DJ, and solid Asian-fusion menu!

I absolutely loved my entire experience at Sago — from the delicious cocktails to the insanely tasty food to the cool & vibey atmosphere — this was definitely one of my favorite restaurants in all of San Diego!! The Tuna Tartare, Crispy Broccolini, & Tuna Sashimi are must-try plates. The aesthetic of this place was so good & it is such a good place for a girls night out or to grab cocktails!!

The service here is spot on: friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to steer you in the right direction. The menu delivers across the board, but the lobster bao buns with caviar easily steal the show — rich, playful, and the kind of dish you’ll be talking about on the drive home. Nothing else disappointed, which says a lot considering how ambitious the kitchen leans.

Cocktails and wine were equally on point — balanced, creative, and clearly curated with intention. Add in the sleek atmosphere and laid-back Encinitas energy, and Sago more than passes the vibe check. Whether you’re looking for a proper night out or just want to treat yourself, this is a spot that deserves a visit. Solid four stars, and one I’d happily come back to.

I was thoroughly impressed by how good the food was for such a trendy spot!! I had tuna sashimi, ceviche and cucumber salad to start and the fish was so fresh and flavorful. The chicken and caviar bites were so delicious and juicy same with the steak skewers. Enjoyed a few cocktails and the servers were super nice and friendly. Overall a great spot and would totally go back for date night or a girls night

We came in to try the brunch menu and I was blown away! The French toast was probably the best I have ever had hands down. We also had the lobster bao buns (with Cavier) and they were AMAZING! The other entree that was super yummy was the pork Benedict! Everything was delicious!!! The vibe here is also so fun! They had a dj & the entire seating is open concept with outside air! We loved our experience and server here!
