This restaurant used to be one of my favorite Italian spots, and I still remember having a truly fabulous date here about three years ago. The food, the ambiance, and the cozy charm left such a lasting impression that I was genuinely excited to return last night with a close friend.

We were really looking forward to a warm, relaxed evening of good conversation and comforting Italian food. The cozy dining atmosphere is still lovely, and we were seated in a corner which gave us a sense of privacy and intimacy — something we actually appreciated. We ordered a glass of wine, an appetizer, and two pasta dishes, all of which were delicious and reminded me of why I once loved this place so much.

Unfortunately, the experience was significantly affected by the service. My friend and I hadn’t seen each other in months and were deeply engaged in catching up. I tend to eat slower, enjoying my food and the moment, and we still had half a glass of wine left when the waiter began repeatedly asking if we wanted our food boxed up. This happened around six different times, which made us feel rushed and unwelcome, as if we were being pushed out instead of invited to enjoy our evening.

We were clearly still present, still sipping our wine, and even intending to order more, but the constant interruptions broke the flow of our conversation and shifted the energy of what was meant to be a cozy, relaxing night.

It’s honestly really sad to say that after this experience, I don’t think I would return, especially when this restaurant is so conveniently located just a block away from my friend’s home. I truly wanted this to be a nostalgic and heartwarming return, and while the food and atmosphere still hold their charm, the service made it feel anything but welcoming.

I sincerely hope this was just an off night, because this place has so much potential and such a beautiful ambiance that deserves to be enjoyed without feeling rushed out the door.

Sages in Redmond is easily one of the best Italian places I’ve tried in the area. The pastas are excellent, and the pink sauce is amazing and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and well cooked, and the portions were satisfying. The service was great, and the staff was really accommodating and friendly, which made the experience even better. The place has a nice, calm vibe that’s good for a relaxed meal. Overall, it’s a solid spot for Italian food, and I’d definitely come back again without thinking twice.

Had dinner on a Saturday. Solid, though unremarkable.

FOOD: 4.0. Solid
– 3.5: Buratta Cheese appetizer. A bit too much vinegar for me. Toast was excellent.
– 4.5: Butternut Squash soup. Very nice.
– 4.0: “Sages Homemade Gnocchi”. Very good, but not as good as I remember.
– 4.0: Creme Brulee. Typical cold-creme brulee served in a cup with a a few fresh berries and a sprig of mint.

SERVICE: 4.0. Attentive, prompt, and well-coordinated among the staff. The glass of Montepulciano wine tasted dull; when I asked if the bottle was opened that evening, he replied that it had been opened the previous day and offered another glass. I should have accepted his offer, but didn’t.

AMBIANCE: 4.0. Nicely done interior, appropriate for groups and intimate dinners.

I would rate Sage’s around 3.5 to 4 stars.

The food was genuinely very good. I ordered the lemon herb chicken, which I really enjoyed. My husband and I were dining with friends, and they ordered the seafood spaghetti, which was also excellent. For appetizers, we had the shrimp (prawn) tower and burrata with tomatoes, all of which were well prepared and tasty.

One thing to note is that the restaurant does not offer cocktails. They only serve wine and beer. I was hoping for a gin and tonic, but since that wasn’t available, I opted for sparkling water instead.

The reason I’m not giving a higher rating is the service experience. While the server was polite and courteous, the interaction felt quite overwhelming.

We had met our friends after a long time and were catching up, and although we were still browsing the menu, the server came to our table multiple times about five times asking us to place the order, which felt rushed.

Even after we ordered, he kept returning frequently to ask how everything was, repeatedly interrupting our conversation.

I understand this may be part of the restaurant’s service protocol, and I’m intentionally not naming the server, as this may not have been his personal choice.

However, the constant interruptions became distracting and a bit irritating by the end of the meal.

A slightly more relaxed and spaced-out approach to service would have made the experience much more enjoyable.

Warm and welcoming place ! We ordered the penne arrebbiata, linguine rustica and the grilled garlic prawns. The pasta items were yummy but I was disappointed with the grilled garlic prawns. They were not at all grilled and seemed like they were just boiled and dipped in butter.

We went for Valentine’s Day. The food was decent, but way too expensive IMO. $62 per person for a 3 course was not worth it for the food they served.

This place is absolutely stunning — the atmosphere is calm and welcoming, and the service is truly exceptional. I ordered the lobster ravioli, and I was genuinely impressed. So often, dishes like this can be a letdown, with barely any lobster in the filling. But here, they went above and beyond — the ravioli was generously packed, and there were even extra pieces of lobster served on the side. It was a refreshing surprise, and it really shows the care they put into their food. I wholeheartedly recommend this place — a solid 10/10 experience.

We’ve wanted to try this restaurant for some time. Last night we were in town, so we had our chance. There were no kids, and the atmosphere was quiet, which made for a nice date. The menu offered both traditional and unique selections. There was also a dedicated gluten-free menu with a substantial list of choices. We tried a couple of reds by the glass and were happy with their recommendations. If this all sounds like the experience you want, definitely give Sages a try.

I like to think of Sages as one of the last real restaurants in Redmond. A place to enjoy great wine and food peacefully.

Back here again for our anniversary. Superb food and service. Tonight we tried the Barts Special Chicken and the Gorgonzola Chicken. I was trying to look for flaws, but failed. It was perfect.

Sages had been in my to-go Italian place for a long time now. Finally got a chance to try the place out and I was not disappointed. Although it was a weekend evening, the place was pretty crowded. Luckily I didn’t have to wait for too long and was seated under 10 minutes.

The Lobster Ravioli was amazing. The same can be said about the “wife’s special” which was basically a Pasta served with pink sauce with sundried tomatoes and grilled chicken breasts.

Overall top notch dining experience. The ambience doesn’t really stand out but the flavor and food does.
