Sagano

I usually come here for the business lunch or plat du jour. First time to have dinner and the a la carte menu. The sushi and unagi with rice were pretty good. The outstanding dish was the Yakitori chicken – thigh meat with sweet sticky delicious sauce. Highly recommend this place especially now at 50% off with TheFork.ch.

For the high quality of the food the Lunch Menus, Business Lunches and and even the SUGGESTION DU CHEF is so reasonable.

Our friend got the Menu A (miso soup, 6pcs maki, chicken katsu on rice)and it was very generous portions for the price.

My husband and I split the Menu B (Nigiri Sushi, Filet de Cabillaud, Riz, Soupe Miso) and Suggestion du Chef (½ Portion de Sushi 13pcs, Soupe Miso) and we were so full!

Everything was delicious and the seafood was the freshest you can find. Perfect if you love sushi!

Always be one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Geneva and I keep coming back to this place. The location is very strategic, so close to United Nations office in Geneva, UNHCR headquarters, and so many international organizations around the area.

They always have business lunches and express packages so that it will be ready very soon And we can have short yet productive lunch in there.

My favorite is their sashimi business lunch, that comes with miso soup, sesame plate, cucumber, salad, and rolled beef and rice. They also have sushi, tempura, udon and steak. I also love their ice cream, especially green tea and red beans.

The staff is very polite, friendly and helpful, and also fast.

A sad excuse for a pan Japanese/teppanyaki restaurant, this place does it all badly: dodgy nigiri (provenance “straight from Japan” highly doubtful), smelly teppan dishes (you won’t get the smell in the attached , but you’ll see it’s not very appealing visually), sad everything else. Don’t let my other pictures fool you: except for the tofu dish, all of our food was barely average at best.

The hostess and head teppan chef are very friendly, but the other members of staff, mostly Chinese, are uncouth, unfriendly and uninterested. More egregiously, in a 80% empty restaurant, the service was appallingly slow.

We caught a glimpse of the street-side supply room and kitchen upon entering for an early dinner and weren’t impressed with the lack of cleanliness. The teppan isn’t properly ventilated either so you’ll leave smelling like what you ate.

Though the basement floor tatami rooms seem to attract a pretty loyal Japanese crowd (UN agencies, Japan Tobacco International?), this place was plain awful and a never again address.

You’re welcome.

This is the first Japanese restaurant opened in Geneva. There are some rooms with tatami and feel Japanese style inside. I tried soba for lunch and sushi set menu for dinner but price is reasonable compared to other Japanese restaurants in Geneva. The quality of sushi is okay (compared to Japan) and there are some localized sushi such as Californian rolls (never in Japan and only in western!) and some of the taste are interesting for us especially how they put the sweet sauce on the salmon, mackerel and white fish are absolutely for Swiss! If you like a fusion (not 100% Japanese but mixed with Swiss) visit here and try some dishes!

A very puzzling experience. I remember going to Sagano a few years ago both for dinner and for lunch and never had any particular issues. But now we wanted to go there for dinner particularly for the teppanyaki. We had booked in advance and once we’ve arrived, we were seated by the teppanyaki area with only 1 other table occupied. 2 men were waiting for their respective takeaway orders. 10 minutes later and… nothing, other than us seeing the man cooking some teppanyaki when we arrived and then leaving a piece of chicken on the grill, that was it. No indication as to how long we’d need to wait, not even the menu in hand, no questions around drinks, nothing. We were just… sitting, puzzled, and hungry. At some point the teppanyaki man came back to move around the chicken bit, moved his spatula and then left again. After over 15 minutes of waiting (mind you, we were a party of 5) and absolutely nothing, we decided to leave because… well… nothing happened. When we told the floor manager we were leaving he told us to wait, and we said we were with a child and it was just too long, and he just said “ok” in a very uninterested way. Not sure about staffing but surely for a Friday evening you would make sure it is not *that* bad and considering it was not even crowded… I guess we will not be coming back, then 🙂

We had booked in advance, but when we arrived, the staff just told us to sit and completely ignored us after that. No one brought menus, no one asked if we wanted drinks—nothing. The restaurant was far from busy, with only a few people there, so there’s no excuse for the lack of service. We waited more than 15 minutes without any acknowledgment and ended up leaving. Very disappointing experience. I don’t plan on coming back.
