Our Thanksgiving dinner at the Safari Room was a truly memorable experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere transported us to a nostalgic, old-school setting that felt warm, inviting, and full of character. The décor carries a classic charm that adds a sense of history and tradition to the dining experience—perfect for a holiday meal with family.

For my entrée, I ordered the pork chops, and they were exceptional—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. My family chose the Thanksgiving special, complete with turkey, gravy, pie, and all the traditional sides. Everything was prepared with great care, well-seasoned, and pleasantly portioned. It was the kind of meal that reminds you why this holiday matters: simple, comforting food served with pride.

The bar is another highlight. They offer a wide selection of cocktails, and the two I tried were both excellent—balanced, creative, and made with quality ingredients. Whether you’re a cocktail lover or just curious to explore, the bar alone is worth the visit.

If there is room for improvement, it would simply be to continue enhancing the service pace during busier moments, as the quality of the food and ambiance deserves a dining experience that is consistently smooth from start to finish.

Overall, the Safari Room is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion or enjoy a classic dinner with loved ones. With its nostalgic atmosphere, flavorful dishes, and impressive cocktail selection, it is absolutely worth a visit. I look forward to returning.

The customer service when we went to pick up our food was amazingly but unfortunately that was about the only good thing from our experience here last night. We were celebrating our 2 year anniversary and wanted to try a new place that was near my house so the food would be fresh. My girlfriend pick this place so we looked through their menu and was willing to try it. We called in during Super Bowl halftime to put in our order. I got the New York Steak full cut at medium rare with salad and fries while my girlfriend got the Shriml Scampi with mashed potatoes and clam chowder soup. We were told it would take 15 minutes to be ready. When we got there, there was plenty of parking in the small lot. I had to ring the bell a couple of time for someone to acknowledge us but the lady helping us was very friendly. When we got home to eat the food, we were highly disappointed. My steak was not juicy at medium rare, also had no flavor and the texture of the meat was just bad. The fries basically had no taste as well, even when I added black pepper, salt and ketchup … it didn’t help. My girlfriend was shocked to see that the shrimp scampi had no pasta and was basically just like 5 or 6 pieces of shrimp. She also didn’t like the bread and clam chowder. She didn’t even touch the mashed potatoes and I didn’t even touch my salad.

Salad, warm bread, real butter, steak, shrimp, mash potatoes & gravy, and some veggies for $21.99? Hell ya!!!

So I was staying at a hotel nearby for a couple days, and shopping at Vons across the street from the Safari Room. Every time I went shopping I could smell meat cooking… had no idea where it was coming from. After the 3rd of 4th time shopping, I crossed the street to see who was burning steak so well. Lo and behold, this old place was it.

I walked in, and it was like I was in Vegas in the 60s. Coolest place ever on the inside. The staff were AMAZING, the bartender Shirley was sassy, and hilarious, and makes a killer Mai Tai! The patrons were all pleasant, and you can tell most had been there many times…

But the FOOD!!! OMG, what a ton of food for such an amazing price, and every bite was DELICIOUS! I’ve never been more impressed with a Special like this one.

If you’re in the area, I highly recommend this spot. You will not be disappointed.

The servicer was attentive and informative. the soup was really delicious. I could have eaten it as a meal with a slice of cornbread and would have been happy; it was hearty. the liver was cooked and seasoned well; not tough. the vegetables were firm not mushy possibly blanched or steamed the mashed potatoes with gravy was also good

OLD SCHOOL local steakhouse serving the same decent steaks and sides.

The prime rib was good but not great. The Friday clam chowder was above average, considering it’s obviously not heat and serve. You can taste the seasonings and bite on actual clams.

My other half had the topsirloin and shrimp special. It’s definitely worth the visit. The steak was cooked exactly to order and the shrimps were not over grilled.

Can’t go wrong with draft Stella and salmon creek zinfandel.

The chocolate mouse pie was good too, but the inexpensive chocolate sure sauce drizzle was not needed.

When the bill arrived, $85 plus tip, we looked at eachother and without saying a word we both knew we will return.

The food wasn’t so great. The baked potato tasted like it was baked in a microwave. The steak wasn’t as big n as the waiter specified.

How is it I live so close and have never been here?? Love this hidden gem. Down to earth decor with a ton of locals, everybody knows everybody, hometown feel. Prices are reasonable. Food blew me away. Boyfriend said drinks are strong. I would have been content with good, this was great!! Portions were big. Restaurant, bar, divey, local hangout where you can play bingo, corn hole, hopefully soon listen to live music. What more can you ask for? Covid safe, distanced tables. Maybe years from now people will wo der what that means. ♡
